Chapter 8

Did Severus need someone to save him?

Narcissa asked herself.

No, he didn't.

Slytherin like them didn't need anyone to save them or pity them. Narcissa heard herself answer.

This was their innate pride and persistence.

In her previous life, as far as Narcissa knew, Severus Snape had always lived in Spidertail Alley. Even after he became a renowned Potion Master in England, he didn't choose another place to live.

Why did he stay in that filthy, dilapidated place? What was he reluctant to leave?

Narcissa had been curious as well.

Narcissa didn't pay much attention to this junior of hers when she was still in school. She only became acquainted with him after she married Lucius.

Severus and Lucius had always had a good relationship.

Narcissa could feel that Lucius didn't just make use of this junior of his. He also treated him with sincerity. In this way, for Lucius, this person could be considered one of the few close friends that he could make some concessions for.

Severus' identity as a double agent became widely known after the war because of the propaganda of the 'Savior'. But no matter what people said about him, whether it was praise or sarcasm, Narcissa was grateful to Severus.

When Lucius introduced them to each other, he secretly told Narcissa that Severus was trustworthy. If one day the Malfoy family was in danger and he couldn't help, Narcissa could ask Severus for help. Severus wouldn't sit idly by.

And that was the truth.

When Draco was sent on an impossible mission by the Dark Lord, Narcissa risked everything and ran to Spidertail Alley despite Beira's dissuasion. She half begged and half threatened Severus to make an unbreakable oath.

Regardless of the process, Severus still protected her Xiao Long according to the oath. He completed the insane mission of 'killing Dumbledore' for her Xiao Long. So even though Draco was dispirited for a while after the war, he didn't lose his carefree smile because his hands were never stained with blood or sin.

Severus Snape was actually a very gentle person.

Narcissa knew about this not long after she met him.

When she first met Severus through Lucius' introduction, he was always in a hurry, full of youthful energy and ambition. But a month after she gave birth to Draco, not long after the fall of the Dark Lord, Severus came to the Malfoy family to examine Draco's body. She saw only lethargy and desolation in his eyes.

When they met, Lucius was busy using his connections and the wealth of the Malfoy family to escape the crime of being a 'Death Eater' and wasn't at home.

Narcissa and Severus had only met a few times before, so she didn't know what happened to him. She didn't know how to comfort him and could only greet him politely.

Severus remained silent.

He was lifeless as he mechanically examined Draco's body and cast Blessing Magic.

At that time, Severus gave Narcissa the feeling that he had lost all hope and meaning in life. He was only following his body's instincts and doing these things involuntarily.

Only when he saw Draco's innocent but unconscious smile in his sleep did he pause for a moment, and a trace of life appeared in his eyes.

When Narcissa saw this, she suddenly had an idea.

She picked up Draco, put him in Severus' arms, and told him that she hoped that he would become Draco's godfather.

Severus's arm stiffened subconsciously when he received Draco from Narcissa. His expression was no longer as hopeless as before. Instead, he was at a loss of what to do.

Narcissa watched him look at Draco, who was sleeping because of the Blessing Magic. Her expression softened, but her eyes were filled with despair, sorrow, and self-blame.

He stood there for a moment, and then gently put Draco back into the cradle, as gently as if he were putting down a fragile crystal.

He apologized to Narcissa in a low voice. After a while, he explained that he no longer had the right to protect someone.

His eyes were glued to Draco, but also seemed to be looking at something else through Draco's smile.

After a while, he bent down and gently tucked Draco in, and then said goodbye to Narcissa.

Narcissa didn't ask him to stay, because he looked very sad.

Maybe he wants to be alone for a while, Narcissa thought.

In the evening, when Lucius returned home, exhausted, Narcissa helped him relieve his stress by telling him about the interesting things that happened to Draco, and then took him to see Draco.

At this time, Narcissa discovered that Draco was holding an ugly little dinosaur that he had transformed into using Transfiguration and was sleeping soundly.

She immediately realized that Severus had put the dinosaur in Draco's arms when he was tucking Draco in. It had the faint smell of magic potions.

Narcissa told Lucius about what happened when Severus examined Draco's body. She also mentioned to Lucius that Severus had rejected her offer to be Draco's godfather.

Lucius shrugged and said regretfully, "Too bad. You should have been tougher." But he wasn't too surprised by Severus's rejection.

Narcissa couldn't suppress her curiosity and asked Lucius about what Severus had gone through that changed him so much.

Lucius hugged her in his arms and kissed her ear and hair. "Because he lost his light," he murmured.

Then he turned her around and looked at her seriously. "Sissy, I can't lose you and Draco. No matter what, promise me you'll be okay, okay?"

That night, Lucius was so clingy that Narcissa forgot to ask about what happened to Severus.

By the time she learned about Severus and Lily Potter's story, it was already after his death.

In order to clear Severus's name, Harry Potter, the "savior," spread their story to almost everyone.

Some people were shocked by Severus's silent and selfless love. Others laughed at his cowardice and self-inflicted wounds. But Narcissa didn't lament too much. Perhaps it was because she had experienced too much.

She suddenly felt a little regretful. If she had been a little more forceful back then and made Severus Draco's godfather, wouldn't his bond with this world have been even deeper?

Would Severus also feel more warmth before he died in loneliness after traveling alone for decades?

Narcissa had thought that Severus had been living in the run-down Spider's Tail Alley, perhaps because he missed someone or some people, perhaps his lover or his family.

But Narcissa had never thought that Severus would have experienced such a painful, even tragic, childhood there.

Even though Slytherin's nature didn't allow them to accept pity and salvation, Narcissa couldn't just sit by and watch the situation Cyrius described.

She wanted to see for herself, ask Severus for his opinion, and respect his choice. Not condescending pity or self-righteous salvation, but giving him a helping hand in a difficult situation as an equal.

She needed to find an opportunity to go to Spidertail Alley in person.

Soon, the opportunity would arrive.

In the last letter Lucius sent her, he mentioned that he wanted to invite Narcissa to Malfoy Manor.

Narcissa was preparing for the Black Manor's Christmas ball, so she didn't immediately agree.

As Christmas approached, she forgot about it.

But she didn't expect Lucius to come to Black Manor on the eve of the Black family's Christmas dinner.

"Sissy, I'm so happy to see you.

How have you been?

Is everything going well? "Lucius bowed to her parents and walked toward her.

Narcissa's father, Signas Black, saw the situation and waved at Narcissa with tolerance, indicating that Narcissa could take Lucius somewhere else to "talk."

"Why are you here?"

Narcissa took Lucius to the end of the corridor on the second floor of Black Manor and asked impatiently, "Isn't the Malfoy family holding a Christmas party this year?"

"Father is going to Malta to discuss with a local herbal family, so we canceled the Christmas party this year. We're going to hold a longer and larger party in the new year."

Lucius shrugged. "So my father is' depositing 'me at Black Manor this Christmas.

Are you surprised?

Are you happy? "

"Happy." Narcissa suddenly thought of her plan to sneak to Spidertail Alley and her tone was a little perfunctory.

She thought for a moment and said to Lucius, "Luc, I need to use your name to sneak out of Black Manor and do something.

It's very important to me. I hope you can help me. "

Lucius raised his eyebrows. "You want to sneak out of Black Manor alone?

Don't you know about the 'Duke Of Darkness' who's been trending in England recently?

The magic world isn't as peaceful as it seems. "

"Please, Luc."

Narcissa couldn't explain to Lucius that she had memories of her previous life, so it wasn't a problem for her to protect herself with magic.

She could only shake Lucius's hand and look at him pitifully, hoping to confuse him and make him agree.

"I have to confirm something in person, and I can protect myself. I'll take the amulet and the door key with me."

"Is it dangerous?"

"I promise you, Luc." Narcissa raised her left arm and pointed her index and middle fingers at the sky. "Absolutely, absolutely, there won't be any problems." She winked at Lucius.

"Then …" Lucius hesitated and couldn't bear to refuse. "I'll make up an excuse for you, but I want to go with you."

"Luc …" Narcissa changed her tone and disagreed with Lucius.

"There's no room for negotiation."

Lucius folded his arms. "You only have two choices. One, go with me to do this' very important thing 'for you. Two," he changed his tone and said lazily, "You can choose not to go.

Nothing is worth the worry of a little wizard who hasn't even started school, right? "

"But Uncle Abraxas allows you to go out alone," Narcissa complained indignantly.
