Becoming a Big Shot in the Celestial Realm
Chapter 978
Chapter 978: Seizing Property
The willow trees were lush, and the alley was quiet.
After walking through the long alley, Wang Chen arrived at the front of a courtyard.
After leaving the Yiluan Directorate, Wang Chen first returned to the inn where he was staying. He changed into a set of casual clothes, then followed an address written on a deed to find the house before him.
Previously, he had taken treasures from the secret vault of the Anyang Ling family, which included several deeds to properties in Daye.
Although Wang Chen told Liu Chaozong he wanted to return to Donglu Prefecture, his instincts told him he had a high chance of being kept in Daye for work.
Moreover, since he had newly cultivated methods, staying in the inn was quite inconvenient. Therefore, Wang Chen rummaged through his storage space and found a deed to a house, giving himself a new place to settle.
However, the couplets pasted on both sides of the door made him furrow his brow.
This house undoubtedly belonged to the Ling family; the deed clearly stated so, with the large seal of the Daye Household Department affixed on it.
Yet, the relatively new couplets suggested that someone seemed to be living inside!
After thinking for a moment, Wang Chen stepped forward and knocked on the door ring.
"Who is it?"
After a moment, the door creaked open, revealing a head peeked out from inside.
The person wore grayish-blue servant clothes and immediately darkened his face upon seeing Wang Chen, roaring, "Who are you, knocking randomly on the door? You disturbed my master’s midday nap—can you bear the responsibility?"
Wang Chen calmly asked, "Is this your master’s house?"
"Hah!"
The servant seemed to hear the biggest joke and scoffed, "If it’s not our master’s, is it yours? Scram now, or I’ll make you feel my fist!"
He shook his tightly clenched fist at Wang Chen, looking fierce as a fiend.
The next moment, the arrogant servant flew backward like a kite with its string cut, crashing heavily into the yard a dozen steps away, nearly breaking his backside.
"Ah!"
He screamed and then shouted, "Help! Someone is breaking into our house and attacking!"
Before his words finished, several figures quickly appeared in the courtyard, blocking the door where Wang Chen had just entered.
"Who dares to intrude into the Han residence!"
"Kneel down to avoid death!"
These guards were all fierce, rapidly surrounding Wang Chen.
"Han residence?"
Wang Chen sneered, "When did my Ling family’s house become the Han family’s?"
The guards around Wang Chen exchanged glances, and one of them said in a deep voice, "Take him down first!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three guards flew backward simultaneously, just like the earlier servant.
They all crashed to the ground; although they didn’t suffer serious injuries, their shock was indescribable.
The guards couldn’t clearly see how Wang Chen had acted; they only felt an immense force suddenly strike them, and then they found themselves uncontrollably flying out.
This is undoubtedly a higher-level fighter!
At that moment, a middle-aged man swiftly approached, landing in front of Wang Chen with a grave expression. He inquired, "May I ask, in what way has my Han family offended you?"
The cultivation level of this middle-aged man was clearly superior to that of the guards. Wang Chen glanced at him and said lightly, "Did you not hear what I just said? This house belongs to my family. How dare you occupy it and then question me?"
The middle-aged man was momentarily stunned.
He had not anticipated that Wang Chen was truly here to "reclaim" the property.
The middle-aged man hesitated because he knew the history of this house was somewhat dubious—their employer had only moved in a few years prior.
Now, the rightful owner had appeared!
"Bold scoundrel!"
Suddenly, a crowd surged out from the front hall, led by a young man in a brocade robe who bellowed at Wang Chen, "This is the ancestral property of our Han family! How dare you attempt to seize it by force! This is utterly lawless!"
"Seize him! If he resists, kill him without hesitation!"
After his outburst, the young man in the brocade robe realized something was amiss.
The middle-aged man, who stood before Wang Chen and was the chief martial master of the Han family, suddenly knelt down.
He was trembling, his face as pale as a sheet!
The three guards who had just risen also turned pale, too afraid to approach.
"What are you all standing around for?"
The young man in the brocade robe, both shocked and furious, shouted, "What do I pay you for? Move!"
Under his command, several nearby guards cautiously drew their weapons and edged toward Wang Chen.
They were no fools; they recognized Wang Chen’s formidable strength!
Yet, bound by their master’s orders, they steeled themselves and advanced, silently praying.
Before they could get close, Wang Chen suddenly raised his hand in a feigned grab, causing the long knives in the guards’ hands to fly out and land in his palm!
The scene was nothing short of extraordinary.
With a flick of his wrist, Wang Chen shattered several long knives, which clattered to the ground.
Only then did the young man in the brocade robe realize he had encountered a formidable opponent. He instinctively stepped back, trembling, and said, "Breaking into someone’s house in broad daylight is a serious crime. If you leave now, I will not pursue this matter."
The weakness in his last words betrayed his lack of confidence.
"I told you, this house is mine,"
Wang Chen dropped the knife handles and said lightly, "If you leave now, I will overlook your trespassing."
The courtyard had likely been vacant for some time; Wang Chen wasn’t sure if Ling Hongyun had arranged for anyone to guard it previously.
Now that it had been occupied, he intended to reclaim it.
Wang Chen simply wished to avoid unnecessary complications. If the other party understood and complied, it would be best to avoid further trouble.
The young man in the brocade robe swallowed hard and retorted, "You claim this house is yours; do you have any proof?"
"Of course, I have proof,"
Wang Chen sneered, "But are you worthy of seeing it? I will give you two hours to vacate the premises. If you are still here by then, do not blame me for being harsh!"
With that, he turned and left.
The young man in the brocade robe stood dumbfounded, watching Wang Chen’s retreating figure. After a long pause, he snapped out of his daze, his anger flaring.
"What are you all standing there for? Go to the Jingzhao Government Office immediately! Have the Blood Guard send someone to arrest that rogue!"
The house was thrown into chaos.
Two hours later, Wang Chen returned to the courtyard.
He found more than a dozen fully armed Blood Guards standing in the front yard, while the young man in the brocade robe hid behind them, looking at Wang Chen with a smug expression.
"Gentlemen, it’s him! He is trying to forcibly take our house!"
A burly Blood Guard stepped forward, growling, "You have some nerve, daring to…"
His voice suddenly caught in his throat, as if someone had grabbed his neck.
For Wang Chen had just revealed his identity token!
