Bringing Along a Ball and Hiding from Foreign Devils
Chapter 42
Ren Zhouyuan was startled by the volume of Fan Wenfeng's voice. He quickly lowered the volume of the phone. "I'm going downstairs. How are things going on your end? Where's Anan?"
The voice on the other end of the phone suddenly quieted down. Apparently, Fan Wenfeng had moved to another place. "I was in the laboratory just now. Those instruments were too noisy. What did you just say?"
Ren Zhouyuan repeated the question again. Fan Wenfeng smiled and replied, "Anan had a lot of fun. Your teacher here is really good. I watched him learn about those 3D printers, VR, and so on. I wanted to touch him, but he didn't recognize me as an 18-year-old young man. He wouldn't let me touch him, so I could only sit with the tea-serving robot and watch with envy."
Ren Zhouyuan was amused by his words. "How long will it take for you guys to finish?"
"Maybe about ten minutes," Fan Wenfeng said. "You should get ready first. When I'm done here, I'll go get the car with Anan. When I call you, come down. We'll meet at the door."
After Ren Zhouyuan hung up the phone, he felt an itch in his heart. He really wanted to go downstairs and see how Anan looked in class. She must be very cute, but at the same time, he was very conflicted. He didn't know if the teacher in class would recognize Anan's face. He thought a lot of nonsense and then looked at the time. It had only been five minutes.
He turned off the computer, packed up his things, and prepared to go out and wait for the elevator. He planned to wait for Fan Wenfeng in the lobby.
As soon as he stepped out of the office door, he saw Leonid walking towards him.
Ren Zhouyuan suddenly broke out in a cold sweat. He stood there and watched Leonid walk over and then walk past him. Leonid didn't look at him the whole time, but inexplicably, it made him hold his breath and feel extremely nervous.
When Leonid was far away, he finally relaxed and felt a little amused.
Shaking his head, Ren Zhouyuan put this matter to the back of his mind and walked towards the elevator.
Fan Wenfeng picked up Ren Zhouyuan at the entrance of the company, and they went to the restaurant together. Along the way, Anan showed a liveliness that had never been seen before.
He and Ren Zhouyuan were sitting in the back seat. Next to Ren Zhouyuan, Ren Zhouyuan was fiddling with the airplane model that Ren Zhouyuan had made with a 3D printer pen. Ren Zhouyuan was explaining to Ren Zhouyuan how he had made the airplane model.
Ren Zhouyuan listened to him with a smile. Seeing how happy Anan was, he felt indescribably happy as well.
Fan Wenfeng, who was sitting in the front seat, occasionally said a few words. He talked about how Anan had pressed the wrong button at the beginning, and how he had ruined the model made by the teacher. Anan screamed and rushed forward to stop him. As he talked, he rushed back to Ren Zhouyuan's arms and acted like a spoiled child, saying that dad shouldn't listen to Uncle Wen Feng's nonsense.
Ren Zhouyuan was a little emotional and a little regretful. He was touched that his son had become so cheerful in just half a day, and regretted that he couldn't see the process of his son becoming livelier with his own eyes.
After they finished eating, Fan Wenfeng sent the father and son home. Before they left, Fan Wenfeng said to Anan that he would take him out to play next time. Anan unexpectedly agreed, which was rare.
Ren Zhouyuan gestured to him to make a phone call. Fan Wenfeng nodded and watched them go home before driving away.
Anan still couldn't stop after he got home. He kept fiddling with his crooked little plane. Ren Zhouyuan called him several times before he finally asked him to take a shower.
He looked at the time and estimated that Fan Wenfeng should be home by now, so he called him.
Ren Zhouyuan didn't want to miss a single thing that happened to them today. He asked Fan Wenfeng a lot of details, and Fan Wenfeng answered them all one by one.
Fan Wenfeng said, "The teachers there are really good. Today, there were only three children in the experience class, including Anan, but there are usually more than ten children in the class.
The teachers first took us to see how they teach. They happened to be having a VR experiment class, so the teachers gave each of us a pair of glasses to watch together. "
Ren Zhouyuan couldn't help but tease him, "Didn't they say that they wouldn't care about 'little fresh meat' like you?"
Fan Wenfeng smiled and continued, "After watching this, he took Anan and the others to the experience class. First, he let them experience how to use the VR software themselves. Your son is really brave. The other children chose plants and the universe to look at, but your son chose internal organs. I watched him take out the heart, liver, spleen, and lungs one by one. Even a man like me couldn't stand it."
Ren Zhouyuan tried to imagine the scene, but he couldn't imagine his son doing this with a serious face.
Fan Wenfeng said, "Those teachers were very interested in your son from the beginning. I don't know if it's because he's mixed-race, but after watching your son do this, they were even more interested. Maybe they saw that your son is very talented, haha!"
Ren Zhouyuan was fascinated by Fan Wenfeng's words, but when he heard him say this, his face changed. He immediately asked him, "Those teachers were very interested in my son?"
"Yes," Fan Wenfeng said, "There were a total of three children in the same class. The other two looked older than Anan, but those teachers paid the most attention to Anan. Maybe it's because he's young, but you know, those 3D printers are very hot, and it's easy to hurt your hands if you're not careful."
Hearing him say this, Ren Zhouyuan kept telling himself not to worry too much, but he still couldn't help but ask a lot of questions. In the end, he was sure that those teachers paid special attention to the child because he was young. Only then did he dare to relax.
At this time, Ren Zhouyuan was a little glad that he didn't take the child to Wei Qi today. Even if Fan Wenfeng was promoted and filled in a lot of personal information, it wasn't his information. Even if someone found out that Anan looked like Leonid, they wouldn't think that it had anything to do with him.
However, Ren Zhouyuan had secretly decided that he would never take Anan to Wei Qi again. Although he felt sorry for Anan, and regretted that he couldn't see him in class, he had to do this in order to not expose them.
After that, Ren Zhouyuan found a lot of other maker laboratories. Compared to Wei Qi, those laboratories were just small businesses that could make a little money. Whether it was the equipment or the teachers, they were not even one-tenth of Wei Qi's.
He picked one that seemed to be the best among them. No matter how he compared it, he felt that Wei Qi was much better. However, the cost of the courses in that laboratory was much higher than Wei Qi's. Ren Zhouyuan gritted his teeth and signed up for the most expensive laboratory for Anan, hoping that the difference wouldn't be too big.
He really couldn't figure out Wei Qi's business methods. The equipment was the best, and the teachers were probably the best. According to Fan Wenfeng, most of the teachers were foreigners, and they had translators to teach children. The cost of the courses was probably not small, but the cost of the courses was the lowest in the industry. He couldn't even figure out how other small companies could survive under Wei Qi.
He remembered what Fan Wenfeng told him at the beginning. She said that Leonid relied on patents to support a lot of people. However, no matter how smart that man was, the whole company couldn't survive on his brain alone. If that was the case, he didn't need to start such a company. He might as well focus on developing patents.
He couldn't figure it out. No matter how hard he thought about it, he still couldn't figure it out.
Ren Zhouyuan sighed. He seemed to have never understood that man. Whether it was when they first met, how it developed into the situation in the end, or at this moment, he seemed to have never understood anything about that man.
Maybe they were destined to be different people.
The words in front of him were clearly typed out by himself, but now they looked like strange hieroglyphics. Even the Chinese words that he had always been proud of seemed a little strange.
The silence was a little awkward. He forced himself to calm down, but the hand holding the manuscript couldn't help but tremble.
Suddenly, a big hand covered Ren Zhouyuan's hand. He froze for a moment, and the shock in his heart was greater than his nervousness. He looked up at the owner of the hand.
"Don't be nervous. I won't eat you," the owner of the hand said.
