Chapter 818
Chapter 818: Countdown to the Massacre
“We are CIA agents! I can show my credentials.”
Ivan Carter quickly revealed his identity; it was a good shield, as no one dared to openly confront the power of the state, not even the police.
“CIA? Is that real? Get out of the car and show me your credentials! Do you have a gun? Where is it?”
A police officer carefully pointed his gun at Ivan, ordering him to get out, then told him to kneel by the front of the car.
These officers acted very professionally, following standard procedures and didn’t seem fake. Ivan Carter felt a bit relieved; even if they had other motives, they would at least follow the rules.
Ivan complied without resistance and said, “It’s in my left jacket pocket; the gun is there too!”
The officer approached and began searching, while the others pointed their guns at the man claiming to be a CIA agent and stood completely still.
Just as Ivan had said, a notebook and a handgun were produced.
The officer stepped back two paces, carefully examining the credentials, and pulled out a PDA to scan the gun’s serial number. This wireless connection could immediately identify any gun’s origin and user.
A person, credentials, and gun had to match for it to be legal.
“Well, Jack, does this guy seem like he’s lying? He doesn’t look like a good person to me!”
Another officer shouted to the one checking the credentials.
The officer holding the credentials and gun suddenly chuckled coldly and turned to say, “These credentials are fake, and the gun’s serial number is wrong; it’s an illegal firearm!”
“What?”
Ivan Carter was startled and almost exploded with rage; they were clearly accusing him falsely.
He didn’t expect the police here to be this corrupt, rotten to the core. Just as he thought to struggle, he felt a heavy blow to his back that caused him to grunt in pain as he crashed heavily against the bonnet of the business van.
The kick was incredibly forceful and strategically placed, causing him severe pain that left him nearly speechless and drained much of his strength instantly.
The officer framing him sneered and loudly declared, “So, you are impersonating a CIA agent. Well, we’ve caught a Big Fish today! The others are all suspects; take them all back.”
The surrounding officers quickly produced handcuffs. As for where they were taking them, that remained unknown; they didn’t care about whether it involved women and children.
“These guys! These guys! They are completely lawless, do they even care about the United States of America?”
Even Charlie Mitchell, an agent who typically didn’t interfere with local law enforcement, recognized that these officers were intentionally framing Ivan. He trembled with rage but refrained from acting recklessly.
This incident had nothing to do with Lin Mo; Charlie wasn’t blaming the Chinese man for leading them into this mess.
As one of America’s guardians, they couldn’t just sit by and watch citizens suffer unfair treatment.
“What? Are you planning to fight them?”
Lin Mo turned to Charlie, who stood still. He guaranteed that if Charlie made a move, the next second would result in chaos.
In America, police had considerable power to use firearms.
Once someone ended up dead, it would ultimately be up to these officers how the situation was presented, and they likely waited for him to become impulsive, requiring less effort to fabricate an excuse.
“Mr. Morin!”
Charlie Mitchell suddenly clenched his teeth, as if making a significant decision.
“What?” Lin Mo raised an eyebrow, eagerly listening for Charlie’s next words.
“I know you should have diplomatic immunity!” Charlie Mitchell suddenly mentioned that, a privilege only granted to certain special individuals, a sort of get-out-of-jail-free card.
“You mean…?”
Lin Mo looked unexpectedly at the agent, realizing there was more to his words.
As a top pilot from China wanting to travel abroad for personal reasons, getting military approval was not an easy task. However, it was not the first time an ace pilot had flown out of China, and Lin Mo had submitted his application in advance.
"Night" had substantial permissions and, after providing a special assessment report, the higher-ups approved Lin Mo’s trip to America while also granting certain special protective measures.
It was not surprising that Lin Mo wasn’t armed; a diplomatic immunity card could be seen as normal.
Since this was not a secret infiltration mission, it was only natural that the Americans learned about it quickly.
Chinese agents might be lurking nearby to protect Lin Mo, but they would definitely not appear easily.
Charlie’s tone made Lin Mo look at him again.
Shouldn’t an agent lack principles? Things like justice were meant for dogs; why would anyone have such a peculiar sense of justice?
“I have diplomatic immunity, but the cost seems a bit too high,” Lin Mo replied.
He didn’t want to be used as a pawn; a get-out-of-jail-free card could only be used once, and both sides had to agree. The Americans would not allow him to abuse such power and might even refuse it.
In short, the price of taking action openly was still not enough to convince Lin Mo.
“Once! I can turn a blind eye this one time with Ivan.”
Charlie Mitchell seemed to have made a significant decision, raising his index finger. In fact, he was taking a considerable risk; he had purposely turned off his earpiece before speaking. That was essential communication equipment for agents, a work log, and also a black box.
If his superiors learned of this statement, he and his partner would likely be suspended and interrogated endlessly, which would almost mean betraying the country.
Indeed, the principles of agents were scattered everywhere, and Lin Mo sighed.
This Charlie Mitchell was clearly being impulsive; this was not the quality an agent should possess.
Was there some hidden affection involved, and who was dominant? the Dragon Knight thought maliciously.
Lin Mo did not respond; he merely nodded almost imperceptibly, knowing that even if someone was nearby, they likely wouldn’t detect their transaction.
Charlie Mitchell was instantly overjoyed, and then Lin Mo’s figure suddenly vanished before his eyes.
The CIA agent was taken aback, and as he struggled to find Lin Mo, he was shocked to discover that the police near the business van had quietly collapsed to the ground, not even making a sound.
Meanwhile, the police on the other side had just sensed that something was off, but before they could react, a figure seemed to fall from the sky, appearing like a ghost, leaving a shadow behind every officer.
With a hand stretched out in a chopping motion, Lin Mo gently struck the back of their heads.
Even a bull would be knocked out by the Dragon Knight, let alone a person; with a bit more strength, he might have even severed their necks.
Lin Mo reappeared beside Charlie, ready to turn a blind eye for the CIA agent one time in the struggle against Tiger Energy.
“Done! Remember, this doesn’t count! I—”
Lin Mo’s voice suddenly hit a pause, cut short, as his gaze turned sharply, scanning the surroundings warily, like facing a formidable enemy.
Just moments ago, he had heard the gold giant dragon’s warning in his mind, alerting him that numerous weapons were approaching. The gold giant dragon could sense the heat from metallic firearms but couldn’t detect the thin metallic content in human bodies.
After discovering a listening device last night, Lin Mo had asked the gold giant dragon to monitor everything within a kilometer radius, and now it had indeed found something.
“Charlie, we’re in big trouble. Wait a moment; you and Ivan should look out for yourselves.”
Lin Mo glanced around, lightly touched his watch, and thought it might be time to release the gold giant dragon.
However, before that, Lin Mo would ensure there were no survivors; Bob’s family and the CIA agents must not live to tell the tale; otherwise, he would face the most terrifying catastrophe.
Of course, this was also the Dragon Knight’s final countermeasure.
As the situation was unclear, Lin Mo was prepared for the worst.
Clap, clap, clap…
Suddenly, a round of applause echoed nearby, and figures appeared at both ends of the road, even jumping over the fence from Bob’s villa.
More and more figures emerged, and CIA agent Charlie Mitchell and Ivan Carter, who gasped for breath and struggled to retrieve his gun license, instantly turned pale.
These figures held various weapons: AK-74s, M16s, and even the Chinese-made Type 95; they could host a grand small arms exhibition.
Nearly three hundred armed personnel wielding various firearms surrounded Lin Mo and his companions tightly, leaving no room for a fly to escape. Compared to these armed personnel, the police seemed like sick cats next to tigers; some of them exuded a fierce killing intent, implying they were seasoned fighters.
Desperate to die alongside his family, Bob ran from the pickup truck to the business van, clutching his wife and child, terrified and trembling.
Just escaping one danger to fall into another, why was their fate so miserable?
“Fantastic! Truly fantastic! You must be Mr. Morin, right?”
A muscular East Asian man in a black suit stepped forward from the crowd, clapping his hands as he spoke.
This man had a large and powerful build, with muscles visible even through his suit, and spoke English extremely fluently.
Behind him stood twelve armed personnel clad in camouflage, resembling American soldiers, glaring at Lin Mo and the others.
“Who are you?” Lin Mo asked, his voice devoid of emotion. He sensed that this man was the mastermind behind everything.
The overwhelming numbers made Lin Mo feel uneasy; if a slaughter began, it would inevitably turn into a massacre for the sake of Gold Coins and his own safety.
Neither Lin Mo nor the gold giant dragon would spare a single person here.
