Chapter 823: The Beast Unleashed

"That little brat Zeger seems to have brought something extraordinary. Don’t worry, Mr. DuPont, my underground gladiatorial arena is absolutely solid and reliable. It’s my hideout for the apocalypse, ensuring safety."

Mr. Ross quickly regained his usual calm demeanor, accustomed to the tempest of life. He subtly made a gesture with his hand. One of the attendants at Scarlet Manor glanced with a flicker of understanding and silently acknowledged the signal.

The wisdom of age has taught Mr. Ross such carefulness, allowing his family to remain steadfast through countless dangerous crises.

The attendant quietly fell a few steps behind, signaling to a surveillance camera hidden in a corner before rejoining the group.

“Level two alert! Monitor the underground gladiatorial arena! Prepare combat mechanical soldiers, check ammunition, initiate self-check procedures, and get ready to input attack targets. All personnel, cancel leave, retrieve weapons, and begin armed assembly.”

The surveillance room underground immediately alerted the guards stationed throughout the manor.

Boom! Boom!

Roar!

Even the high-density crystal bulletproof glass could not muffle the furious roars of the three terrifying beasts inside the "crystal cage."

With a shape resembling a tank, their impact was incredibly powerful yet surprisingly agile, moving as swiftly as a cheetah. Brimming with thick armored plates and sharp claws, their elongated spines extended deadly spikes, thoroughly engineered to be killing machines. The number five bio-combat beast, with its bright red eyes locked onto a human, emitted deafening roars, its saliva dripping on the ground, a foul-smelling mixture of toxins and deadly bacteria.

This fierce creature was capable of effortlessly tearing an elephant apart. Just nearby, another one lay defeated, cleaved nearly in half, its dismembered insides oozing a horrid stench, the white bones exposed and blood fully drained, life extinguished.

These beasts, known as "number five" or "evil spirits," lacked reproductive abilities and gender, grew at an astonishing rate, and matured in just one year. Developed in a secret bio-laboratory in America, they were designed as battlefield biological weapons, capable of executing various extermination tasks. In combat, they could even engage in one-on-one combat with main battle tanks, transforming into merciless killers in the jungle. Though ferocious and cunning, they do have weaknesses: they naturally fear certain special scents and respond to specific ultrasonic frequencies, making them the easiest bio-experiment beasts to control.

At first glance, "number five" seemed similar to a gold giant dragon, yet it could not compare with the evolution of the ancient Dragon of Slaughter over countless years. Its immature form was evidently far from attaining perfection.

Even so, it was hard to find a beast on Earth that could rival it, as even the fiercest of Siberian tigers and Bengal tigers stood no chance against such an unnaturally evolved predator.

A moment ago, one beast, split open at its chest, slammed violently against the crystal bulletproof glass wall, causing three or four penetrative cracks to form, nearly breaking through.

The viewing elite were so startled by the terrifying impact and roars that more than ten of them fainted right on the spot, even causing a small commotion.

Even an AK-47’s gunfire barely left superficial markings on the already terrified crystal bulletproof glass. This transparent barrier, now riddled with threatening cracks, would not withstand a relentless assault from a beast for long.

Many socialites, unable to bear such fright, retreated from the scene early, their mental fortitude failing to support them in this environment.

"Unbelievable, really incredible! Is this guy even human?"

Zeger, ignoring everything else, stared excitedly at the battle between man and beast inside the "crystal cage." When a "number five" was slain, his eyes nearly bulged out.

Given only a rather useless giant sword as a defense weapon, he had not expected it to slice open the massive beast’s abdomen, causing its insides to spurt out.

The dying beast’s last attack almost shattered the "crystal cage."

Unwilling to give up, Zeger reintroduced three "number five" beasts into the arena. However, they did not succumb to instant dismemberment as he had imagined. Instead, one fought effortlessly among them, not suffering even a scratch.

Its movement speed, jumping height, and displayed strength would easily earn gold in the Olympics.

“No, no, this can’t be! Number five is the strongest battlefield killer; how could a human possibly kill it?”

Jack Martin, the senior engineer from the secret bio-laboratory, was stunned. This beast could tear an elephant apart, and the size difference was astronomical—how could a human ever stand a chance?

Even wielding a giant sword nearly one and a half meters long, no weapon could defeat the most stable bio-beast from the lab. Besides, even small-caliber rifle bullets couldn’t pierce through their scales, let alone be cut open by cold weaponry. It was utterly unscientific.

Battle Energy surged continuously like a tide as Lin Mo calmly gripped the now slightly blunted giant sword, standing alert against the three giant beasts closing in from different directions.

He had never encountered such a nightmarish creature in the biological chart of this world. It boasted incredibly strong defense, packed with aggressive quill-like spikes and sharp edges, fully sculpted as a weapon of slaughter, embodying the cunning of a Warcraft.

Fairness? There has never been fairness in this world; even Americans shout freedom yet have never uttered the word "fair."

Outside the "crystal cage," the audience gradually thinned, leaving behind only the audacious and daredevil members, their nerves steeled like iron. Despite the frightening cracks in the crystal bulletproof glass, they remained seated without a hint of movement.

To completely break through such a solid defense is no easy task. Most of the people who remain are those who have witnessed the strength of this "crystal cage."

Roar!

A fierce beast suddenly moved, its strong hind legs pushing off the ground and creating a deep pit as it charged, bringing a sharp gust of smell, baring its sharp fangs and claws as it lunged fiercely at Lin Mo.

The second and third beasts followed closely, as if they had agreed to attack in turn.

"Come on!"

Lin Mo sprang up into the air, narrowly evading the beast that lunged from below while simultaneously stomping down with all his strength.

The tank-sized beast let out a massive wail as the Dragon Knight’s tremendous force sent it flying. Gaining the same immense reverse thrust, the Dragon Knight thrust his great sword, colliding with the beast that charged from the left side.

Battle Energy surged like a tide into the sword hilt, raging within the sword blade, flickering faint flames at the edge, sharpening to an incredible degree.

With a horrifying crash, the Dragon Knight, embodying explosive strength, slammed into the beast, both of them crashing against the bulletproof glass wall.

The beast barely managed to emit a few strange wails before the great sword sliced through its thick scales and hard skull, piercing into its brain like a knife through butter. With a full eruption of Battle Energy, the beast’s brain matter instantly splattered into a mush.

With a soft crack, the crystal bulletproof glass couldn’t withstand the enormous impact of man and beast and exploded into a long crack.

There were still two beasts left. Lin Mo, expressionless, withdrew the great sword, flicking off a mixture of brain matter and blood, and slowly turned around. The beast at his feet continued to twitch reflexively, gradually losing its life force.

Roar!

Roar!

The two menacing beasts, one missing its attack and the other injured, exchanged glances, both letting out growls and snarls, showing no fear as they lunged at Lin Mo once more.

Charging towards the bulletproof glass wall, Lin Mo quickly pushed off the ground, accelerating almost vertically up the wall. He nimbly dodged the collision as both beasts slammed into the glass wall simultaneously.

Crack!

Inside and outside the "crystal cage," everyone heard the unusually crisp and loud sound at nearly the same time.

All eyes turned toward the glass wall of the "crystal cage," where the newly formed crack inexplicably extended longer, quickly reaching four or five meters, intertwining with the multiple penetrating cracks caused by the earlier collision with the first beast.

It was like pouring water into a hot oil pot, creating a series of explosive sounds.

Was this internal stress release? Had the transparent protective wall reached its limit?

Lin Mo’s pupils slightly contracted as the subsequent changes confirmed his thoughts.

It seemed to trigger a chain reaction; the ice cracks on the wall became denser until, with a loud crash, a giant opening burst from the one-foot-thick transparent bulletproof glass wall.

Outside the arena, everyone collectively inhaled sharply, boundless fear surging from their hearts, enveloping them completely. Almost no one was able to stand without trembling legs.

This felt entirely different from watching the beast and human battle earlier; it meant that there was no difference inside or outside the cage. They too were now participants in the gladiatorial fight. Oh God, how could this happen?

These were fierce beasts, not mere kittens or puppies! Many people immediately lost their composure in fear.

Yet the two beasts reacted unexpectedly. Though they had been poised to pounce on Lin Mo, they now hesitated, stepping back and exchanging glances, lowly growling before suddenly lunging toward the freshly cracked opening.

The already weakened crystal glass wall could not withstand these two beasts, which broke through effortlessly.

Inside the gladiatorial arena, amidst sudden sharp screams and cries of horror, the beasts had been unleashed!
