Dragon Rider Warplane
Chapter 839
Chapter 839: First Diplomacy, Then Force
Everything that happened in America was now distant for Lin Mo. Bob’s family received proper arrangements and now lived in seclusion in Seattle, enjoying over twenty million dollars earned from selling technology. Only Lin Mo and a few in the CIA had their address and contact information. The headless dragons at Tiger Energy Company were too overwhelmed to locate them.
Two CIA agents watched Lin Mo enter the security check area and finally sighed in relief, concluding their thrilling surveillance mission. Charlie Mitchell and Ivan Carter would never forget the unforgettable experiences of those few days.
Avoiding the Church’s people was merely the wishful thinking of a Dragon Knight, completely unaware that those from the Church would not let him go so easily.
The high-ups had issued a strict order, using gentle means to lead the "Seraphic Lord" down to the Church.
If worldly people saw that Seraphic Lord spread three pairs of dazzling wings, no words were needed. Their impact would far surpass any sermon, and believers would multiply in unimaginable numbers. This was a living miracle, casting a powerful nuclear bomb into public and media perception, bringing unpredictable faith and benefits to the Church.
It was expected that a Church team disguised as a religious exchange would soon set foot on Chinese soil, patiently laying a large net and quietly gathering various information about Lin Mo.
For Lin Mo, the ten-hour flight was simply a chance to take a good nap in first class.
The Boeing 777 chased the night sky during its flight; it failed to catch yesterday’s dusk by the time it arrived at Narita Airport in Tokyo.
When Lin Mo’s connecting flight arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport in China, it was just around noon.
After disembarking, Lin Mo waited at the baggage claim area for his belongings. He only spotted a metal box containing samples and technical data of the "Boyce Hydrogen-Oxygen Decomposition Tank," but he did not see the Longinus spear that was supposed to be with it.
What was going on? Was it not delivered?
The body of the gold giant dragon was still within that spear; it must not be lost.
Before departing from the airports in Los Angeles and Tokyo, Lin Mo had quietly confirmed with the Light Mirror Technique multiple times that these two pieces of luggage were indeed in the airplane’s cargo hold.
Now, however, the Longinus spear was missing. Was it too long to be delivered?
That didn’t make sense. Lin Mo puzzled over this, disregarding the attention of others as he directly drew a Light Mirror Technique on the box’s lid.
“Hmph! How dare they touch the Dragon Knight’s belongings!”
Just like a fighter jet patrolling the skies, the Dragon Knight quickly confirmed the Longinus spear’s location by expanding his search radius.
Not far from the airplane Lin Mo had just boarded, three airport staff members and a rather plump man, who looked like an airport official, were handing Lin Mo’s Longinus spear, along with the packaging, to a fully armed soldier.
Although in a special mission status without any military insignia, he resembled an officer based on the positions of other soldiers around him.
At least thirty armed soldiers formed a surrounding defense formation around the Longinus spear, with snipers also lying in ambush on nearby rooftops.
What was going on? A special operation from the military.
Lin Mo was taken aback!
He hadn’t expected the military to intervene so heavily; the situation was becoming serious.
The Dragon Knight clearly underestimated the various forces’ interest in the Longinus.
Until now, the Longinus spear was merely a legendary weapon for Lin; at most, it was a highly practical divine weapon. He had no idea it originated from the Aden Gulf star gate battle; otherwise, he would have never brought it onto the plane so openly, especially with the paperwork plainly stating “Spear of Longinus.”
Unaware airport and customs staff smiled and let him pass, while only China’s intelligence department, keeping an eye on Lin Mo, would be surprised to trigger this unknown high-level secret.
Due to internal constraints, along with some unexpected and intentional reasons, the Americans repeatedly made major mistakes, allowing Lin Mo to easily take this extremely valuable interdimensional weapon. However, other forces would not make such errors.
There were many Longinus spears, but only one Seraphic Lord. The Church took a step back because of the Seraphic Lord’s arrival, letting Lin Mo dodge a big trouble without knowing it.
Yet, the Chinese, who had been keeping tabs on Lin Mo, couldn’t miss the fact that he possessed a Longinus.
While the nation might disregard the "Hydrogen-Oxygen Decomposition Tank" technology, it would not pass on the Longinus.
As the Longinus successfully boarded the plane and reached China’s shores, the intelligence department provided cover from the shadows.
Once the plane landed, the military’s specially arranged special forces immediately sprang into action.
If the gold giant dragon had not been captured in the Longinus spear, Lin Mo would not have cared. Compared to national integrity, it was just a trivial matter; if the other side wanted it, he would simply give it away.
However, now, the gold coins showed no response. Lin Mo’s only companion in this world was in someone else’s hands. Unless he wanted to lose it, he could no longer remain indifferent.
These soldiers didn’t greet him; their taking without asking angered the Dragon Knight on the spot. This was blocking one of their own—blatantly disrespectful.
Lin Mo lifted the metal box and oriented himself, heading straight for the position of the Longinus spear he had detected using the Light Mirror Technique.
"Hey! Major Lin Mo! I need to talk to you!"
"Major Lin! Please wait!"
"Get lost!"
Lin Mo didn’t even glance to the side. Like a humanoid tank, he pushed past two unfamiliar men who suddenly blocked his way. With the gold giant dragon nearly falling into others’ hands, the Dragon Knight was irritated with everyone.
"Ah!"
The two men stumbled back as if they had slammed into a copper wall, retreating several steps while clutching their sore chests in shock, watching Lin Mo storm past them. One quickly pressed a communication device to his ear and reported softly, "Colonel Huangfu, it seems Major Lin Mo has discovered the location of the Longinus and is heading your way. He looks very angry."
Dressed in a bulletproof vest and combat gear, with a Type 95 automatic rifle slung across his shoulder, Colonel Huangfu immediately responded upon receiving the urgent report, "You guys find a way to stop him; how you explain is your business. I’m on my way!"
After ending the communication, Colonel Huangfu muttered to himself, "Did he find it out so quickly? Hmm, maybe there’s a tracking device; he really is skilled, having come from the Special Operations Team!"
Once he obtained the item, Colonel Huangfu had no time to stay and “argue” with Lin Mo, as that wasn’t his job.
His special forces team was only responsible for quickly relocating the item to a safe place and ensuring nothing went wrong.
The higher-ups had arranged for others to explain to Major Lin Mo why this important mission item was received urgently and offer substantial compensation, even possibly promoting him a rank, which seemed fair.
If it weren’t for knowing that Lin Mo planned to return home early, the higher-ups wouldn’t have let Colonel Huangfu wait at the airport to casually take it. Instead, they would have sent him to personally lead a team to storm into America and bring back both the man and the spear.
One could imagine how alarming it would be for a spear, obtained through the combined might of various world powers, to be openly carried in broad daylight in public. Anyone aware of the situation would be horrified, as it was nearly equivalent to walking down the street with a nuclear warhead.
If it weren’t for the lack of informed individuals and the government’s deliberate news blackout, Lin Mo would never have been able to acquire it so easily. It was as if destiny or luck was on his side, allowing him to bring it back safely.
"Team One! Maintain a perimeter and follow me." Colonel Huangfu signaled, and the surrounding soldiers began to move in sync with him.
Besides the soldiers by his side, there were hundreds more soldiers inside and outside the airport, along with a container truck on standby, two wheeled light armored vehicles, military jeeps, and several troop transport trucks. Two armed helicopters were also stationed on nearby rooftops, forming a formidable escort team.
As Colonel Huangfu spotted the tightly secured container truck, someone stepped in front of them, blocking the path.
Colonel Huangfu’s expression changed swiftly. He raised a hand to signal a stop, and the surrounding soldiers immediately ceased their advance, aiming their guns at the newcomer. He hastily opened his communication device, tilting his head and questioning sternly, "What’s going on? Why didn’t you stop him and explain the situation?"
This question was utterly unnecessary; if the explanation had been successfully delivered, why would the principal person have come forward?
"Sorry, Colonel Huangfu, we couldn’t stop him. Major Lin Mo isn’t listening at all; he’s very angry."
The voice on the other end seemed to be mixed with groans; it appeared that those responsible for using words to win over had been overwhelmed by “force.”
It was likely that the personnel Colonel Huangfu had stationed outside had also been taken down.
To be honest, this operation was already somewhat flawed; however, the stakes were too high to risk just being overpowered by other forces. The responsibility fell on these individuals while the military prepared generous compensation for Lin Mo.
But everyone had miscalculated one thing: Lin Mo was not an ordinary soldier, and the Spear of Longinus was of extraordinary importance to him now.
"Hello, Major Lin Mo!"
In response to the failure of the cooperating personnel, Colonel Huangfu scoffed coldly but then approached with a friendly smile.
It was better to reason things out if possible; he knew that starting with fists against Special Operations Team members was unwise.
"Return the item to me!"
Lin Mo bluntly and fiercely demanded, staring at the Longinus spear that Colonel Huangfu had taken without permission.
There was no reason left to discuss now.
