Enkidu
Chapter 10
The sun at noon in spring was warm but not too glaring.
Similar to plants that needed photosynthesis, Enkidu also liked to absorb the warmth of the sun. Especially in the Middle Ages, there were not many buildings and everywhere was covered by vegetation. It was very suitable for Enkidu's life. When he had nothing to do, he would take some time to bask in the sun and absorb the spiritual energy of the earth.
A few days ago, Gozhu asked Enkidu if he wanted to join the Order of Chivalry but was rejected.
Although Enkidu was a weapon made by God and had the concept of being able to use all weapons after becoming a Heroic Spirit, he still felt that he was not qualified for the position of a swordsman. At the beginning of ancient times, there was no specific concept of the sword. His understanding of swordsmanship was even weaker than that of ordinary Knights. He had to rely on his own nature to obtain a large amount of knowledge. Therefore, Enkidu did not want to compete with others as it was unfair to others.
Speaking of which, the class he was summoned to wasn't the Lancer class that was commonly used in Gaia's consciousness. Instead, it was a brand new class called Guardian. Enki didn't really understand the meaning of this class, but he had been learning how to be a good Guardian.
When Enkidu came out of the forest, he had a jar of honey in his hand.
He communicated with the bees and exchanged one-third of their hive's storage, preparing to share it with Gozhu.
Although this era was thousands of years more advanced than the Uruk, the food culture was not as dazzling as the Uruk's. Enkidu sometimes felt that it was great that he did not need to eat. Why did Arthur, the king of a country, eat such terrible food every day? Enkidu had never seen a traditional delicacy that was countless fish heads staring at the sky with dead fish eyes.
In addition, ever since Gawain joined the Order of Chivalry, he had become more and more active. Most of the time, he would send the chef away to personally cook for King Arthur. This was a good intention, but unfortunately, Gawain's cooking skills were not up to standard. Every time the king asked who was cooking today and replied that it was Sir Gawain, Enkidu could see Gozhu's face turn paler and paler.
It was really pitiful, but in order not to hurt Gawain's enthusiasm, King Arthur could only silently endure it.
After passing through the bustling streets, the king's city was in front. There were more people than usual today. They were crowded on the streets, and there were Knights on the side guarding them as they moved back and forth.
Enkidu saw the king's sworn brother, Guy.
He was directing the knights to transport the goods. When he noticed Enkidu, he deliberately turned around and greeted him with a smile. The two of them were familiar with each other and often communicated with each other.
"Yo, Enkidu.
"Did something happen?"
"A Roman cargo ship suddenly passed through our waters and was intercepted. Later, it was discovered that it was not a cargo ship, but pirates who robbed the cargo ship. But since it is Roman goods, we do not intend to return it."
Rome and Great Britain were enemies, and Great Britain regarded Rome as an annoying invader. The relationship between the two countries was not good.
Therefore, Great Britain did not have any psychological burden when taking away the goods that were taken by Roman pirates.
"Awoo ~ Awoo ~"
In addition to the goods, there was also a cub that was just one month old in a cage.
Great Britain did not have animals like lions, and the reason why people surrounded it was because of it. Even the nobles had only seen pictures of it in the family's collection of sheepskin scrolls.
Seeing Enkidu's eyes on the struggling lion in the iron cage, Guy said.
"Anyway, we have to give it to the king. Why don't you take it back yourself?"
Although after a long period of drifting at sea, the little lion's spirit was low, but it still stared vigilantly outside the cage. If someone reached out to it, it would definitely bite him with its baby teeth.
Enkidu squatted down and looked at its eyes. Strangely, this person gave it a very comfortable feeling, just like its own kind.
"It's really hard …"
Even if there were no wounds, such a small animal should have been playing under the protection of its mother.
Now, it had become a cargo and left its hometown. He didn't know if it was stolen or if its mother had been killed …
Enkidu reached out and gently stroked the top of the little lion's head.
There was a reassuring power in his body that strangely calmed the lion's restlessness. The lion, which had been hesitant to bite down, closed its mouth and restrained its ferocious expression. It didn't resist when Enkidu picked it up. Instead, it curled up into a ball and quietly stayed in Enkidu's arms.
"It seems that it likes you very much."
Guy was a little surprised. When the lion was being transported to the city, it would claw anyone who approached it. However, the cub's claws were not injured, so he was relieved to let Enkidu take it away. He did not expect that such a violent character would become so obedient in front of Enkidu.
"I had the experience of raising lions before. Probably because I have their aura, it doesn't feel afraid."
That was a very good time, and he still smiled when he thought about it.
All the lions that Enkidu had raised before were adult lions. It was the first time he had seen such a small lion. After saying goodbye to Guy, he thought about what kind of environment to take care of it. It looked like it was at the age of drinking milk.
Arthur was not in the castle from noon to afternoon. Instead, he was training Knights in the army. Enkidu went directly to the army's training ground.
The king rode his horse and competed with the Lancelot Knights who were said to have a very successful mutual test. The king's golden hair shone brightly under the sun.
After winning the battle, he dismounted from his horse. His forehead was still covered in sweat.
He did not bother to wipe his sweat and strode directly toward Enkidu.
Until he saw the little guy in Enkidu's arms that was glaring at him.
"This is …" King Arthur thought carefully for a while and finally found some impression in the documents in his memory. "A lion?"
"A Roman cargo ship was robbed by pirates and fled to the nearby sea. It was discovered and intercepted by the guarding navy. It was also in the cargo ship."
"Since it's a Roman ship, we won't return it."
The merciful king was also merciless when talking about the country that liked to invade.
Arthur raised his hand and wanted to touch the little lion's head. The lion immediately bit his hand aggressively. Fortunately, Arthur was agile and was not injured.
"What a fierce temper."
"It was just released from the cage. It's normal for it to be uneasy."
Enkidu explained.
After Arthur stepped back, the little lion obediently leaned on Enkidu's arm. There was no sign of uneasiness.
"Let's keep it for a while. It looks too small. I don't feel at ease leaving it to others."
Arthur liked animals like lions very much. Naturally, he would not be angry over such a small matter.
"I plan to release it back to its mother land when it has the ability to survive independently. It will lose its wild nature if it is kept by humans."
Enkidu scratched the little lion's chin. It looked at him in confusion and played with Enkidu's green hair with its claws. With such a carefree look, there was no need to worry that it would be too sad when they parted.
It was born to belong to the grassland. It ran freely and hunted to its heart's content. It did not rely on humans and rely on their rewards to survive.
"When a lion grows up, its appetite will increase. It will spend more and more food every day. It is indeed necessary to release it."
However, King Arthur was thinking about food. He did not know if it was because of his instincts. Although he liked the lion's fearless spirit and longed to be the lion of Great Britain, he did not want to waste the country's resources to raise an existence that could only be used as a mascot.
Arthur's words successfully changed Enkidu's thoughts. He was clearly worried about how to take care of the cub, but the words that came out of his mouth became a discussion about food.
"Then what does it need to eat?"
"There are pregnant female goats in the palace. Try feeding it with goat milk mixed with minced meat."
Enkidu and Arthur sat on the viewing platform. They talked about the little lion while admiring the Knights' heroic posture on the training ground. Recently, Enkidu did not go to the training ground. This was the first time he saw how strong the brave Knights Lancelot were, as Arthur had repeatedly mentioned to him.
"Perhaps many years later, when he dies, there will be an important seat on the Throne of Heroes for him."
Enkidu made a judgment.
Lancelot's expression did not change as he fought against several people consecutively. Many of them were powerful figures who had been famous for a long time. He was very comfortable with any weapon, as if it was made for him by nature. He rarely used his own weapon.
Perhaps it was because an elven sword was unfair to others, so he chose not to use it.
"If Lancelot gets serious, it will be difficult for me to win against him."
Arthur did not hide his admiration for Lancelot. A man's friendship slowly grew through competition. He always had respect for outstanding opponents.
"He is indeed very strong."
Enkidu had not felt a boiling desire for battle in his heart for a long time. Even now, his heart was still as calm as water. When he was alive, he was full of energy and liked to use force to persuade his close friends to agree with him when they needed to be admonished. He was called a person who was as wild as a beast and difficult to tame.
He looked down with rapt attention. A bird landed on his shoulder in the distance, attracting the lion's attention. It made a hunting motion. Just as it was about to pounce on the bird, the white bird flapped its wings and flew high, causing the lion to miss.
Enkidu curled his finger. The bird found a place to rest and stayed in his hand. Enkidu lowered his head and smiled.
The gloominess in his light green eyes turned into a gentle light. His pupils were as wide as the sky. He let go of the thoughts about his own transformation. Compared to whether there was a problem in his body, he preferred to care about the sun, the wind, the clouds, and the white bird in his hand.
"Sometimes, I feel that Enkidu, you really don't seem like a human."
Arthur watched the whole process. Even if this scene appeared many times, it would still make Arthur feel incredulous.
This "inhuman feeling" was too strong. It always made King Arthur worry that one day his friend would suddenly leave, just like he suddenly appeared.
"Even when I was alive, I was not a human."
Arthur vaguely remembered that Enkidu was a dead spirit. Because they had been together for too long, he had forgotten his original identity.
Then Enkidu, in addition to him, the "Gozhu", had other masters in the past. He did not know if they would be as close as he was.
Strangely, King Arthur's heart gave birth to an indescribable feeling of displeasure.

Since the addition of the little lion in the castle, the originally quiet atmosphere became warmer and livelier.
Usually, it would appear anywhere, running and jumping, and no one would restrain it. This was because the lion was very smart. Every day when it had enough fun, it would find Enkidu's room by itself. Sometimes Enkidu was not there, but there was enough food and water in the house, so it would not starve.
The magician, who also had enough fun, staggered into the castle. This was the first time he returned to Arthur's side in several months. Seeing the little guy baring its fangs and claws at him, he raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"This is really strange. Great Britain does not have this kind of animal."
Merlin grabbed the back of the lion's neck and casually lifted it to test its weight.
"You have to grow up."
Without any sincerity, he threw the lion into the arms of the passing Knights under the angry gaze of the little lion. Unlike Enkidu, Merlin was not welcomed by animals. Even if the Familiars were animals, they would hate him. This was also related to the fact that he always liked to tease them.
"By the way, where is your King?"
He asked Knights, who was holding the cub in a hurry. Fortunately, his reputation in Great Britain was quite high. People looked at him with a kind of idol halo, and occasionally there was no problem with his image setting.
"The King should be in the study now."
The one who answered him was not Knights, who was still unable to react to the mysterious legendary magician for the first time, but Gawain, who was holding the carefully prepared food and trying to capture the King's stomach.
Since he was recognized by King Arthur, he wanted to hear the King's praise again. Unfortunately, no matter how he prepared food for the King, the King's praise was not as sincere as the first time. It seemed that he still needed to work hard.
Thinking of this, Gawain was very respectful when facing Merlin. He was more powerful than his mother, and even almost as "mysterious" as the magician, which made him feel a little scared.
Merlin glanced at the food on the plate that originally had a lot of weight. It just so happened that they were going the same way, so they could chat casually.
"Are these things to be thrown away?"
They looked like the products of a kitchen novice who had failed to practice his cooking skills. They were only a little better than a mess of magic potions.
"No, these are the King's food."
"… Little Arthur has grown to such a terrifying level after I left."
