I Helped My Boyfriend Get Rich
Chapter 25
Tao Yin knew that this was not a good time to talk, so he held back his thoughts and questions and continued to pick the sweet potato vines.
Aunt Li looked at the two educated youths on the ridge. One of them was glued to Tao Yin, while the other was looking ahead indifferently, impatiently urging her companion to leave.
Aunt Li looked at Tao Yin, who had his head lowered and didn't notice anything, then looked at He Cuixiang, who had a burning look in her eyes. She seemed to have figured something out.
"Hey, isn't this Teacher Lu and Miss Ning from our school? Where are you going at this hour?" Aunt Li greeted them warmly.
He Cuixiang woke up from her daydream when Aunt Li shouted at her. She looked at Tao Yin guiltily. Seeing that he didn't notice her, she let out a sigh of relief and lowered her head with red eyes.
Ning Lang frowned and shifted his gaze from Tao Yin to Auntie Li, who was greeting her.
"Aunt Li, Lu Xing and I are going to the office to talk to the secretary about something."
Aunt Li nodded and said goodbye after exchanging a few more pleasantries.
When they reached the ridge, Ning Lang looked back again. Tao Yin kept his head down and didn't look at him, which made Ning Lang a little annoyed.
Lu Xing followed Ning Lang's gaze and curled his lips.

Tao Yin returned home before noon. He poured a pot of water into a pot, put a porcelain bowl on top, and threw a few fresh sweet potatoes into it. After thinking for a while, he picked the two biggest eggs from Li Lan's basket and put them into the pot to boil.
Why did he hide them? The main reason was to guard against Chen Guihua. According to Li Lan, Madame Tao often took things out of their room. She even took Tao Yin's blanket when he was young and gave it to her eldest daughter.
When the sweet potatoes and eggs were cooked, Tao Yin quickly fried a sweet potato vine and filled half of the lunch box. The other lunch box was filled with a boiled egg and sweet potatoes.
Tao Yin walked into the field with the two lunch boxes.
Tao Qingchang was harvesting corn in his own field when he heard someone calling him.
"Tao Qingchang, your daughter is here to bring you food. Don't be busy and go eat!"
Tao Qingchang was so surprised that he broke the corn stalk. He turned around and saw his daughter walking towards him with a smile while holding a lunch box.
Tao Qingchang hurriedly gathered the corn into the ground and stuffed it into the area where the corn stalks were densely packed. Then, he pushed his daughter out.
"Go, go, go. What are you doing here? The corn stalks are poking my body." Tao Qingchang did not have any preference for boys. He had a good relationship with Li Lan and his wife, Tao Yin, and he treasured his daughter very much. He could not bear to see his daughter suffer since she was young.
If it were not for the series of events that happened later that made Tao Yin lose face in the production team, Tao Qingchang would not have been so heartless as to let his daughter marry outside.
"Dad, I went to our field to harvest some sweet potatoes this morning. Mom was not home at noon, so I steamed some and sent them to you. I tasted them. This year's sweet potatoes are very fragrant!" Tao Yin opened the lunch box and showed Tao Qingchang the fragrant and soft sweet potatoes inside.
At the mention of his field, Tao Qingchang became excited. He looked at the size of the sweet potato and carefully tasted it. His frown disappeared.
"This year, I picked the best ones. They are not as delicious as the ones in the past."
In the past, they worked together for the government and were paid for their work. It was not easy to work hard. Now that the field was his, how could he feed his wife and daughter if he did not work hard?
Tao Qingchang put the sweet potato down after tasting it. He looked at Tao Yin sternly.
"You haven't recovered from your injury, so you should listen to your mom and have a good rest. You don't have to worry about the field. If you have nothing to do, you should read more books. There is still a year before the exam. The earlier you study, the better you will be!"
No matter what Tao Qingchang said, Tao Yin smiled and nodded. Tao Qingchang was speechless. In the end, he took the sweet potato and ate it happily.
Tao Yin poured him a cup of warm tea. There were some stir-fried sweet potatoes in the lunch box next to him.
Tao Qingchang picked up a sweet potato with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth. He smiled.
"You don't say. The vines grown from this are better than others."
"What are you eating? You are so happy!"
Aunt Li's husband walked over with a shovel. It was noon, and his wife had already cooked lunch at home and was waiting for him to come back. When he walked to the edge of the field and saw Tao Qingchang and his daughter so happy, he could not help but stop.
Tao Qingchang wiped his mouth, took out a sweet potato from the lunch box, and handed it to Li Gao.
"Try it. It is a sweet potato grown in my field. It tastes good."
Li Gao took a bite of the sweet potato skeptically. He carefully savored it in his mouth and nodded. "How can it taste good? Lao Tao, how did you grow this sweet potato? I have never eaten such delicious sweet potatoes!"
Tao Qingchang was also a little dumbfounded. This sweet potato did not taste like ordinary sweet potatoes. When it entered his mouth, it was sweet and soft. There was no astringent taste at all. If he really had to say something, he could not say anything.
"That's right. I chose good seeds." Tao Qingchang licked his lips and looked at Li Gao's doubtful eyes. He continued to explain, "Then I fertilized it. I was very diligent."
Li Gao took another bite of the sweet potato and swallowed the skin. He still did not believe Tao Qingchang's words.
"Don't fool me. Who doesn't choose good seeds from last year and fertilize them diligently? Why doesn't my family's sweet potato taste like this?"
Tao Yin, who was standing to the side, looked at the sweet potato in the lunch box and then looked at Li Gao's doubtful face. He had some guesses in his heart.
"Uncle Li, our fields are connected. If my dad really had other methods, Aunt Li would know. Moreover, my family's sweet potatoes are ordinary in size. If you like them, I will send you a basket later so that Aunt Li and Xiao Shuan can have a taste."
After Li Gao dragged the shovel away, Tao Qingchang looked at the half-eaten sweet potato in his hand and asked Tao Yin suspiciously.
"Are you saying that our family's sweet potatoes were really an accident?" He still felt that it was more likely that he was a farming expert.
Tao Yin smiled. "I will bring a few from Aunt Li's house tonight for you to have a taste."
Tao Qingchang nodded and finally had no more worries. He finished the sweet potato in his hand quickly.
"Why did you cook eggs for me? I don't like to eat these things. You eat them!" Tao Qingchang stuffed the eggs into Tao Yin's hands with a firm attitude.
Tao Yin knew that he was not lying. Their family did not lack rare things like eggs. Tao Qingchang really did not like to eat eggs. He was not even willing to eat egg whites and egg yolks. Therefore, the responsibility of eating eggs at home fell to Li Lan and her daughter.
Tao Qingchang finished the sweet potato and fried rattan. He gave Tao Yin a few words of advice before returning to the cornfield to continue working.
Tao Yin left the water bottle on the field and walked out with the lunch box. However, he was not going home. Instead, he was going to the place where the educated youths lived.
She remembered that behind the place where the educated youths lived was a piece of woodland. Usually, young men and women would run there. Everyone had a tacit understanding to keep each other's secrets.
Tao Yin wanted to try his luck and see if he could see Lu Xing. If he saw him, he would say a few words. If he didn't, he would just take it as a walk. He was not afraid that others would gossip.
The forest was quiet. There were many branches lying on the ground. Tao Yin thought that there was not much firewood left at home. If he had nothing to do, he could come here to pick up some.
Suddenly, a large hand grabbed his wrist and pulled him behind a rock.
Lu Xing's eyebrows were deeply furrowed. His eyes were as cold as ice. Tao Yin was still looking at him with a smile.
"What's wrong with your head?" Lu Xing pressed one hand behind her ear and gently probed her injury through the gauze with the other hand. He directly pressed a few acupuncture points, neither too lightly nor too heavily, while lowering his head to ask Tao Yin in a low voice if it hurt.
"It doesn't hurt," Tao Yin waved his hand away and smiled slyly, "It's just a bump. It might be a slight concussion. I'll be fine after a few days of rest. I wrapped it up so badly to trick them."
Lu Xing's hanging heart did not relax because of her explanation.
"I'll take you to the hospital." In this era, medical technology was not so advanced. However, if they went to a big hospital, they could at least see something.
Tao Yin did not feel that it was serious. He shook his head and pointed at Lu Xing's leg, "What's wrong with you?" When he pulled him behind the rock, it did not look like his leg was injured.
Lu Xing was expressionless, "It's the same as you."
Trick them.
Tao Yin let out a long "Oh" and stared at Lu Xing thoughtfully.
Lu Xing felt uncomfortable under her gaze. His ears turned red, but his face remained cold. Tao Yin could not help but laugh at the huge contrast.
"Do you know what happened in this world? I only remember up to the time when she died. I don't know what happened after that." Tao Yin thought that maybe Lu Xing knew more than she did.
Lu Xing nodded, "Who do you want to ask?"
"Tao Qingchang and his wife, Chen Guihua, and He Cuixiang."
Lu Xing's gaze fell on her, his eyes calm.
"After the original Tao Yin died, Li Lan became mentally unstable. Tao Qingchang was busy taking care of her. Their lives were getting worse and worse.
Chen Guihua became paralyzed with diabetes. Ning Lang went back to the city and never came back. He Cuixiang gave birth to a boy. "
Even though Tao Yin had expected this result, he still felt very emotional when he heard it. A good family was broken up just like that. Their only child died. It could be imagined how big of a blow it was to Tao Qingchang and his wife.
Chen Guihua and He Cuixiang were the ones who caused all this. Between the two of them, who really had a good ending?
If Chen Guihua did not value boys over girls, if He Cuixiang could stand up and prove the original owner's innocence, perhaps none of this would have happened.
Lu Xing rubbed her wrist, his voice calm.
"You are not her."
Tao Yin nodded, "But now I am." Then he looked up at Lu Xing, "What is your mission this time? Is it difficult?"
Lu Xing shook his head. His mission was to live well. He did not want to do nothing for the rest of his life. He wanted to leave this small village.
But his girlfriend was still here. He could not leave yet.
Lu Xing did not want to say, so Tao Yin did not ask. No matter what difficulties he encountered in the future, she would be by his side. Even if she could not help, she would be there to cheer him on.
"Go back. Don't come here alone in the future." Lu Xing thought of something and his expression changed.
"Okay." If it was not because she wanted to see him, she would not have come all the way here.
Although he said this, Tao Yin took out two eggs that were still warm from his pocket and stuffed them into Lu Xing's hand.
"I don't want them. You can keep them." Lu Xing wanted to give them to her, but Tao Yin pulled his hand behind his back.
"I have a good life. There are many eggs at home. Teacher Lu, please don't refuse."
Lu Xing snorted and did not refuse again. The corners of his eyes were a little red.
Tao Yin stopped teasing him. He said a few more words and walked home with the empty lunch box. Lu Xing grabbed his hand again.
"Stay away from Ning Lang." Lu Xing said in a low voice.
Seeing Tao Yin angrily pull his hand back, the warm and soft feeling in his palm instantly disappeared.
Even if Lu Xing did not say this, Tao Yin did not plan to have anything to do with Ning Lang.
If it was before, she only thought of Ning Lang as an ordinary educated youth. But now, looking at his actions of abandoning He Cuixiang, she could see that his moral character was despicable.
He Cuixiang was not a good person. But since he had married her and had a child with her, he abandoned his wife as soon as he returned to the city. This kind of person was not worth a second glance.
Just as Ning Lang and his wife were thinking about how they were birds of a feather, they bumped into He Cuixiang.
When He Cuixiang saw Tao Yin, she subconsciously shrunk back with a guilty conscience. She even hugged the small package tightly to her chest.
This area was near where the educated youth lived. However, Tao Yin came out while He Cuixiang went in. He Cuixiang also realized this. Thus, after feeling guilty, her eyes showed a brief but deep resentment.
Tao Yin did not have time to look at her and Ning Lang's story. He took the initiative to let He Cuixiang go over.
This time, He Cuixiang became suspicious. She hugged the sweet potato in her arms and observed Tao Yin's expression.
"Tao Yin, did you just come back from Miss Ning's place?" He Cuixiang asked intimately.
Her forced smile carried a hint of unwillingness. It was probably because the original owner was too well protected by her parents that she could not see her good friend's true colors.
"I'm not familiar with him. What you're saying is too strange." Tao Yin resisted the urge to roll his eyes and replied coldly.
He Cuixiang was a bit surprised. She carefully looked at Tao Yin's expression and guessed that she and Ning Lang might have quarreled. She couldn't help but feel a trace of joy in her heart. However, her expression did not change as she advised, "Miss Ning is from the city. It's inevitable for her to be arrogant. You should let him have his way."
Your understanding of Ning Lang is much more thorough than Tao Yin's. I don't know if you've ever expected that one day, he would abandon you and run away.
Tao Yin didn't have much time to care about He Cuixiang and fate. He didn't want to get involved, so he neither nodded nor shook his head. Seeing that He Cuixiang was being unreasonable and unwilling to come over, he could only take the initiative to walk away.
"I'm going home to rest first. I'm a bit tired today."
