Investigation Report on the Life of Hero Division

Chapter 5

"Alright, let's eat," Ōta Aizawa patted Minamoto No Sho's head and picked up the bowl and chopsticks again.

"Hi, hi."

After the meal, Minamoto No Sho washed the tableware and put it in the cupboard before returning to his bedroom.

During the day, Minamoto No Sho awakened Devil Blade Ghost Cut in order to resist the attack of the 4p imaginary enemy.

Minamoto No Sho did not awaken Ghost Cut because he was well protected and did not encounter any dangerous situations. Secondly, Minamoto No Sho had an inexplicable complex feeling towards Ghost Cut.

Ghost Cut was the only monster that appeared beside him without the summoning of Yin-Yang Jutsu. Minamoto No Sho's "Sword Specialization" was not something he obtained by attaching himself to Ghost Cut. He did not know why Ghost Cut chose him, nor did he know much about Ghost Cut's past. He only knew that Ghost Cut used to be a famous sword and that he was a powerful monster. As for why he became a powerful monster, Minamoto No Sho did not know.

These reasons made Minamoto No Sho hesitate and unable to make up his mind to awaken Ghost Cut. However, in this entrance exam, when faced with danger, Minamoto No Sho's first solution was to use Ghost Cut to fight.

Even if he did not understand why he had an inexplicable complex feeling towards Ghost Cut, Minamoto No Sho had always had absolute trust in Ghost Cut deep in his heart.

'Ghost Cut is a sword that belongs to me. He will never hurt me.'

Minamoto No Sho took Ghost Cut off the knife rack, pulled Ghost Cut out of the scabbard, and touched the blade.

"Since you're awake, let's meet."

As soon as he finished speaking, the Ghost Cut let out a hum, and the scene in front of them changed from an ordinary room to a retro and stylish courtyard.

"My name is Ghost Cut, the blade that slays all evil spirits in the world."

The monster that appeared in front of Minamoto No Sho was a monster with short white hair and dark red demon horns on its head. It was dressed in a kimono and carried three swords.

Minamoto No Sho looked at the Ghost Cut in front of him and felt an indescribable sense of familiarity.

'Maybe it's because Ghost Cut has always been by my side, so even if it's the first time I see him, I still feel a sense of familiarity,' Minamoto No Sho thought to himself.

"Hey, I'm sorry for taking so long to wake you up." Minamoto No Sho felt ashamed for being so hesitant.

"It's okay. Compared to transforming into a monster to fight, I'd rather transform into a sharp blade in your hand and fight alongside you." Ghost Cut knelt down on one knee and lowered its head slightly.

"I want to be the only blade in your hand." Ghost Cut voiced its request.

'I also want to be the only blade in your hand.'

"Yes, you will be the only blade in my hand."

Minamoto No Sho reached out and pulled Ghost Cut up. He looked into its eyes seriously and said, "From now on, you will be the only blade in my hand."

No matter why Ghost Cut had appeared by his side, Minamoto No Sho knew that he would never give up on Ghost Cut.

As a Onmyoji, Minamoto No Sho's promise was a form of contract.

The mark formed by the contract appeared on the back of Minamoto No Sho's hand. The dark purple pattern was exactly the same as the one in Ghost Cut's left eye, and then it gradually faded away.

The contract made the relationship between the two closer. If Minamoto No Sho could use 20% of Ghost Cut's power in the past, then Minamoto No Sho could now use 100% of Ghost Cut's power.

The next day, Minamoto No Sho sent the news of his successful enrollment to his only two good friends, Yukihira Chuangzhen, and Xin Ren, whom he had just met yesterday.

Perhaps it was because Minamoto No Sho was two years younger than his peers and because he was focused on his studies, so he didn't have any good friends in school.

Yukihira Chuangzhen's reply was the same as before. He was now focused on cooking and was working hard to defeat his father. He invited Minamoto No Sho to try out his new cooking, but Minamoto No Sho politely declined.

Although Yukihira Chuangzhen's cooking was excellent, he especially loved to experiment with all kinds of strange combinations of ingredients.

Xin Ren expressed his blessings to Minamoto No Sho for successfully passing the combat test. At the same time, he also asked Minamoto No Sho to go shopping together to prepare for the enrollment to Xiongying Academy.

In the following days, Minamoto No Sho stayed with Ōta Aizawa at Xiongying Academy to help Ōta Aizawa collect information on the students who were about to enter Year 1 Class A. He also got acquainted with the teachers while he was at it.

On the first day of school, he arrived at school with Ōta Aizawa as usual, and the two parted ways at the entrance of the school building.

Minamoto No Sho held the Ghost Cut in his hand and easily found his way to the classroom.

Minamoto No Sho arrived early, so he randomly picked a seat near the front. Minamoto No Sho placed the Ghost Cut on the table and took out a blank exercise book from his bag to begin his daily practice.

As the classroom door opened again and again, the classroom gradually became more lively.

"Shinai."

Once again, the classroom door was violently opened, and a boy with a yellow durian hairstyle walked in. His movements were very big and attracted everyone's attention.

"Which one of you is Minamoto No Sho?"

Hearing his name, Minamoto No Sho raised his head. This person was called Explode. Even if he hadn't seen the file, Minamoto No Sho knew him. He was the protagonist of the "Mud" incident that happened some time ago.

"I am." Minamoto No Sho put down his pen and answered.

Explode's whole body exuded an aura of "looking for trouble." He angrily walked in front of Minamoto No Sho and said, "In the future, the number one Xiongying will definitely be me."

"Oh, I know."

Minamoto No Sho said indifferently, then put on a smiling face, "Explode, class is about to start. Hurry and sit down."

"Hmph."

Explode felt like he had punched cotton. He stared at Minamoto No Sho for a second, then turned around and sat down behind Minamoto No Sho, crossing his legs on the table.

Minamoto No Sho looked at the time. It would be time in a little while. He tidied up the things on the table and felt the stare from the back seat since he sat down. He then turned to look at Explode and said, "Explode, can you stop staring at me?"

"Tsk, do you have a problem with that?" Explode said fiercely.

"If you want to play and find your friends, go somewhere else."

"I …" Minamoto No Sho was about to answer Explode when he heard Ōta Aizawa's voice. He turned around and looked at the door. The person sleeping in the yellow caterpillar-like sleeping bag on the floor looked somewhat familiar.

Ōta Aizawa opened the sleeping bag and dispiritedly complained. He introduced himself and then took out the Xiongying sports uniform. "Everyone, change your clothes and gather on the field."

Minamoto No Sho saw Ōta Aizawa behave like this for the first time. He was a little confused.

"Is this really Uncle Ōta?"

"What happened while I was gone?"

"If one day my eyes deceive me."

"I never thought that Uncle Ōta had this side to him."

Minamoto No Sho led everyone to change their clothes and followed the rest to the field. Ōta Aizawa's dispirited lifestyle once again set a new record.

"Zhisheng, use your personality and test it with a softball." He called back Yuan Zhisheng, whose mind had wandered off somewhere.

"Hi!" Hearing his name, Minamoto No Sho quickly entered the zone.

Standing next to the test line, Minamoto No Sho silently exhaled, then took out the Ghost Cut from its scabbard and waved it slightly to test the feel of it.

Looking at the black flame on the blade, Yuan Zhisheng got into position to throw the softball up, and hit the softball with a horizontal slash as it fell.

The softball hit by the Ghost Cut was entangled by the Black Flames on the blade. It drew a long black line in the air and moved parallel to the ground.

The onlookers silently watched the softball fly away. A loud sound came from a small hill in the distance.

"Yes, 5,876 meters."

Ōta Aizawa looked at the tester in his hand. "I remember you tested more than 1,000 meters a month ago."

"Ah, something happened during this time." Minamoto No Sho raised the Ghost Cut in his hand and signaled to Ōta Aizawa.

"We'll talk about your situation after class. Go back and stand to the side." Ōta Aizawa looked at the Black Flames on the blade, then chose a new test from the crowd.

"Explode, second place in actual combat, use your personality and throw this softball."

Then there were eight tests. Except for two, Minamoto No Sho got first place in all the other tests.

"Okay, I know your situation. You're dismissed. Come with me." Ōta Aizawa pointed at Minamoto No Sho, then turned and left.

Minamoto No Sho followed Ōta Aizawa into the office. There was another person in the office.

'This person is probably not very healthy. He's so skinny that he's almost a skeleton.'

Minamoto No Sho's gaze lingered on this person for a second, then turned back to Ōta Aizawa.

"What happened recently?" Ōta Aizawa put down the notebook in his hand, pulled out a chair, and sat down.

"Nothing, nothing. I just woke up Ghost Cut."

Minamoto No Sho raised the sword in his hand. "Ghost Cut is not an ordinary sword. He has always been in a state of hibernation. In the previous tests, he could not even use 20% of his strength. A while ago, I woke up Ghost Cut during the entrance test."

"This is the contract I signed with Ghost Cut." Minamoto No Sho took off the glove on his right hand, and a purple mark appeared on the back of his hand.

"Does it affect you in any way?" Ōta Aizawa pulled Minamoto No Sho's hand and checked it repeatedly.

"No, and I can feel that Ghost Cut won't harm me." Minamoto No Sho shook his head and explained the feeling he got from Ghost Cut.

"That's good. I can't help you in this regard. Everything depends on your own judgment. If you need anything, remember to look for Ghost Lantern."

Although he did not know much about Minamoto No Sho's matters, Ōta Aizawa knew a little about it.

"I understand. I'll be careful."

"Ah, then you can go back first."

Minamoto No Sho nodded and left the office.

Ormet, who had been watching the whole process, sighed. "Aizawa -kun is a good father."
