Married to the Male Lead's Brother
Chapter 112
Ningzhi's vision was a little blurry.
Through the layer of water, she could see Lu Jue's eyes and face full of anxiety and panic. He held onto his sleeve, wanting to help her wipe her tears.
His movements were too jerky and clumsy. He only used a little strength, but his sleeve was already rubbing against the skin on her face.
Ningzhi slapped his hand away. "You're hurting me."
She glared at him as though she wanted to vent the grievances and unhappiness in her heart.
Lu Jue wasn't angry at all. He looked at her red eyes and subconsciously coaxed her. "I'm sorry, I'll be gentler."
He didn't use his sleeve anymore and used his fingertips instead.
Under the tree, Lu Jue lowered his head. His warm fingertips landed on the corners of Ningzhi's eyes and gently wiped the corners of her eyes. His low voice was very clear in the quiet night. "I'm sorry, it's my fault. Don't cry."
Ningzhi looked at him quietly. "Then who am I?"
Lu Jue's fingertips were scalded by the girl's tears. His heart felt like it had been ruthlessly bitten, and it hurt so much that he panicked.
Hearing her question, he looked at her blankly.
Who was she?
Why did he have such a big reaction?
He had only glanced out of the car just now, but his heart couldn't help but beat wildly in his chest. It was as though it would jump out if he didn't hold it tightly.
Ningzhi looked at the blankness in Lu Jue's eyes, and her heart sank.
"You don't know me, so why do you care whether I cry or not?" Ningzhi questioned.
Lu Jue's dark eyes deepened. "I want to know too. Did we know each other before?"
His fingertips slid from her eyes to the tip of Ningzhi's perky nose and her smooth side profile. The familiar touch made his heart tremble. Also, he felt that her face was very hot.
Ningzhi slapped his hand away and glared at him fiercely. He didn't remember her and still wanted to touch her face?
Lu Jue's gaze fell on the girl's face, as if he was unwilling to look away. "What's your name?"
Ningzhi had no way to explain everything to Lu Jue. He had even forgotten her name. She knew she couldn't blame him, but she couldn't help feeling wronged and angry. "Think about it yourself."
Lu Jue's dark eyes looked at her quietly. He now realized that there was an abnormal blush on her fair little face.
Ningzhi didn't want to talk to him anymore. She turned around and left.
She was now tired, hungry, thirsty, and dizzy. Previously, she didn't want to believe that Lu Jue had completely forgotten about her, so she foolishly came to ask for confirmation. Now that it was confirmed that Lu Jue had really forgotten about her, Ningzhi was disappointed and lost.
She wanted to leave.
The light blue skirt brushed against the back of his hand. Lu Jue's heart trembled. He instinctively grabbed Ningzhi's wrist.
Under his palm, her skin was boiling hot.
Lu Jue hurried forward and stood in front of Ningzhi. He reached out to feel the temperature of her forehead. His gaze froze. "You have a fever."
Ningzhi turned her head away. Of course she knew that she had a fever.
"Have you seen a doctor?" Lu Jue asked her softly.
Ningzhi pursed her lips.
The next second, Lu Jue bent down and carried her in his arms. "I'll take you to see a doctor."
Ningzhi was shocked.
In the blink of an eye, she was already in Lu Jue's arms. She struggled. "Let me down. I'll go to the hospital myself."
"It'll take 15 minutes to get out of here and 20 minutes to get to the hospital. Your temperature is very high now. If you continue to have a fever, your brain might be damaged." Lu Jue hugged her tightly and strode in the direction of the Lu family.
Ningzhi was stunned. This was the first time she had heard Lu Jue speak so much. Indeed, he had returned to normal.
