Miss Interrogator Just Wants to Slack Off
Volume 1 Chapter 229
Chapter 229: The Duties of the Hillenbrand Town Police Station
After delegating public transportation matters to City Hall and allowing Tina and Maider to find practical solutions independently, Lolth returned to a relaxed state and continued wandering around Hillenbrand Town.
Soon, she encountered Isabella, who was training extraordinary personnel at the police station.
This group was seated together on a plot of land in the southern new area, gathered around a blackboard similar to the one in the Interrogation Department classroom, receiving instruction from Isabella.
However, everyone appeared to be sweating and breathing heavily, suggesting they had just completed a morning physical training session—Isabella had already imparted her strength training methods to this group.
Of course, this physical training regimen was implemented only after obtaining Lolth’s consent.
Lolth even introduced some modern modifications, incorporating various activities such as warm-up exercises and chanting, which were quite progressive for the era.
I must say, the results were rather impressive.
Regarding the specific teaching content Isabella intended to develop, Lolth didn’t inquire too extensively—after all, this noble lady had once led an invincible knight group throughout the continent and had maintained security across a large territory belonging to the duke’s family, so Lolth decided to place some trust in Isabella in this regard.
Although Isabella had recently begun to visibly emulate Lolth in certain ways, her professional competence remained unquestionable.
Nevertheless, since she was present, Lolth decided to observe.
As she approached the open area near the Hillenbrand Town farmer’s market and examined the content on the blackboard, Lolth was taken aback.
“About preventing and responding to invasions from the main powers of the continent—The Eastern Seven Kingdoms Edition.”
This was the title displayed on the blackboard.
Simultaneously, Isabella, standing before the blackboard, was earnestly explaining the principal characteristics of the formidable individuals from the distant Seven Kingdoms Federation.
“Although the Seven Kingdoms Federation comprises seven countries with various differences, overall they remain quite similar.”
“Their Fighters primarily focus on Rangers, and even their Warriors and Knights tend to employ quicker skills and battle styles, seeking swift and frequent attacks.”
“Most strikes target vital points, and while they are not particularly adept at stealth, they possess strong abilities to conceal their killing intent, presence, and strength.”
“As for the spellcasters, my knowledge of them is limited—but I can confirm that, despite their proximity to Cloud City’s influence, their spellcasters do not conform to traditional mage archetypes.”
“Whether they are Mages, Warlocks, or Clerics, they frequently excel in close combat, so they cannot be countered using conventional spellcaster strategies.”
“Once an invasion by a small team is detected, an alarm must be raised immediately, and do not engage them alone, because the strength they project may be deceptive.”
Watching Isabella impart this knowledge, Lolth felt somewhat perplexed.
Why was she conveying these concepts to a group who had been members and soldiers of the Holy Alliance merely two months ago?
In Lolth’s mind, it seemed excessively harsh to make these captives confront their former “comrades.”
Assigning them to the police station was intended merely to have them assist in repelling monsters and addressing crimes and disturbances caused by outsiders, or to maintain order during special events such as the opening of the half-plane channel.
Observing the assembled dwarves, elves, and human Superoperators, whose expressions betrayed no doubt, Lolth felt increasingly confused and promptly called for a pause.
“Isabella, please stop—come over here.”
I called out Isabella’s name from behind and noticed that Isabella said little to Lolth who had arrived, quickly suspending the training.
“Wait a moment, everyone; Lord Lolth requires my attention,” Isabella announced as she hurried through the crowd toward Lolth, lowering her voice to ask, “What’s the matter, Lolthlinda?”
“Are you certain it’s appropriate to have these former Holy Alliance Superoperators face personnel from other Holy Alliance forces?”
Lolth glanced at the Superoperators who remained unaware that anything was amiss and curiously looked in their direction, also speaking quietly.
“It’s acceptable.”
“Those elves and dwarfs already feel a sense of belonging to Hillenbrand Town because of Tina and Maider.”
“The ordinary human citizens have integrated well, and only a small faction of nobles harbors unease…”
“But I believe those astute Seychelles nobles understand perfectly that after residing in Hillenbrand Town for so long, they have already been labeled as ‘traitors,’ and they possess no alternatives,” Isabella stated with a composed and self-assured tone, despite the slight gentleness and comfort in her demeanor, as if she had transformed back into the unvanquished and resolute “Ryman Ice.”
“Moreover, I have reasons to let them ‘convince’ themselves—that when confronted by ‘invaders’ from their own faction, choosing to avoid confrontation, switch allegiances, or even seek assistance is permissible, and no one will prevent them.”
At this juncture, Isabella lowered her eyelids, “However… should they genuinely attempt to return to the Holy Alliance, these individuals will realize that their true ‘allegiance’ has long been to the Abyssal Demon and Hillenbrand Town.”
She recalled the shadowy figure from earlier and the scheme.
If even she had been abandoned by the Holy Alliance, how could these people be trusted?
Although she recognized that Lolthlinda might not harbor such intentions, ever since she began treating this group favorably… they had no path of return.
Is it reasonable to serve under a legendary Lord of the Abyss, enjoying provisions supplied by the demon race, yet claim they haven’t betrayed anyone?
To maintain the soldiers’ morale, they must all be regarded as “betrayers, disgraced,” and their destiny will be to become instruments and servants of the demon race.
This was evident to Isabella, who had directly confronted Seychelles, South Sotua, and the Orc tribe for years, covertly vying with various forces and even the aristocracy within her own nation.
Hearing her tone, Lolth comprehended that this represented Isabella’s wisdom; she simply nodded and continued speaking.
“Very well, I trust your judgment… but, will anyone truly invade this place?”
“Previously, the Great Sage and The Church of Light focused on this location solely because of the half-plane channel… now that the half-plane channel is closed…”
“But, Lolthlinda, you also mentioned that The Church of Light and the Great Sage have been here… and subsequently departed in defeat,” Isabella said gravely, meeting Lolth’s gaze, “the remaining forces will undoubtedly direct their attention here—towards this place that houses the Light Artifact, the former commander of the Ryman Northman Knight Order, a Moon Elf Princess, and the Golden Peacock prince, which compelled The Church of Light and the Wizard Association to retreat in failure!”
