The Last Cat in the Universe
Chapter 66
Yue An clearly hadn't recovered yet. After a short period of silence, it started to rub against Ji Xiuyun's chest.
Marshal Ji supported the cat's fluffy butt and went into the room to hang Yue An's military uniform in the wardrobe. Then, he pressed the button to clean it up, closed the door, and brought the cat to his office.
He had many questions for Yue An.
Yue An didn't have an optical computer before he left.
As soon as he entered the office, he saw a pile of military records and a holographic projection of Ji Xiuyun's hometown.
There were a few red dots marked on the projection. Ji Xiuyun glanced at them and realized that they were the Free Army's hiding spots.
Ji Xiuyun closed the office door and saw many ugly drawings on Yue An's desk. These drawings looked messy, but there was a vague pattern to them.
Yue An usually didn't think much other than eating and playing. These drawings were already very complicated. There were some additional markings on the drawings, but they weren't written in the Empire of Sintes's language.
Ji Xiuyun carefully supported the cat in his arms. He felt that these drawings were a little familiar.
He casually fiddled with the papers. At the bottom of the pile of papers, he saw the arrangements that Yue An had made for the army commanders.
Ji Xiuyun pulled out the paper and looked at it. He also felt that the words on it were a little familiar.
By the time Yue An came back to his senses, Ji Xiuyun had already started to look at the records of how the words had evolved.
The milky-white furball was lying on the collar of Marshal Ji's black military uniform. Its nails reached out slightly and hooked onto Ji Xiuyun's clothes. Its two hind paws were stepping on Ji Xiuyun's hands.
Yue An carefully retracted its sharp nails and sniffed Ji Xiuyun's chest. After confirming that there wasn't a hint of blood and that Ji Xiuyun wasn't injured, it heaved a sigh of relief.
Ji Xiuyun didn't notice that Yue An had come back to his senses.
He was still looking at the history of how the words had evolved.
At the same time, he could also determine which year and nationality Yue An was from on Earth.
Yue An looked up at Ji Xiuyun's chin. It placed its two front paws on Ji Xiuyun's chest and turned its head to look at the information that Ji Xiuyun was looking at. Its two paws instinctively retracted and stepped on Ji Xiuyun's chest.
Ji Xiuyun paused for a moment and lowered his head.
"Meow." Yue An looked up and meowed softly.
"Why are you looking at me again?"
Ji Xiuyun calmly grabbed Yue An's two paws and carried him out of the collar of the jacket.
"Meow." Yue An leaned over and rubbed his chin.
"I don't understand."
Marshal Ji placed Yue An on the table and pinched his pink and clean paws. "Go and change your clothes. I have something important to discuss with you."
Yue An wagged its tail and went into a small cabinet in the office. It took out its military uniform and dragged it all the way into the lounge with its short legs.
Ji Xiuyun watched his cat go into the lounge. Then, he looked down and organized the meeting materials. He was going to wait for Yue An to come out and tell him what he needed to pay attention to.
Yue An stood in the lounge and looked at the full-length mirror. He began to seriously think about what kind of expression he should use to face Ji Xiuyun.
Unlike cats who couldn't make many expressions, Yue An had been taught by Lady Ellie how to fully express human emotions. His emotions were quite extroverted, especially in front of Ji Xiuyun.
Yue An looked at himself in the mirror and rubbed his face hard. Then, he patted his face twice and walked out energetically.
People who were emotionally active had a common trait of not being able to help but smile when they saw someone close to them. Yue An was one of these people.
Yue An had learned how to control his emotions from Lady Ellie. Yue An had a smile on his face most of the time.
Perhaps he didn't know it himself. His expression wasn't very obvious either. However, Ji Xiuyun knew it very well.
That bright and exquisite face would always reveal a smile that would make one's heart skip a beat when she saw someone familiar.
Oh, this included Marshal Kevin, Lady Ellie, and Ji Xiuyun.
Although Marshal Ji really wanted to be the special one, he wasn't.
If Marshal Ji had to say why Yue An treated him special, it would be because his cat would occasionally throw a tantrum with him.
Yue An had never thrown a tantrum with anyone other than Ji Xiuyun.
Marshal Ji wasn't sure if this was a symbol of Yue An's special place in his heart.
However, Ji Xiuyun still assumed that was the case for now.
"Come here." Ji Xiuyun waved at Yue An.
Yue An ran over obediently. He didn't have the arrogance that a cat should have.
Ji Xiuyun had already prepared a stool for him.
"About the ambush …"
"Ah."
Yue An had just sat down when he heard Ji Xiuyun's words. He stood up again and ran to his desk to pick up the cat-shaped optical computer and the large pile of hand-drawn information.
"The place where those Free Army soldiers were squatting last time was a trapping formation."
He sat back down beside Ji Xiuyun. As he spoke, he flipped through the large pile of information that he had drawn.
Ji Xiuyun paused for a moment. However, he didn't seem very surprised.
During the military meeting, the First Army Commander had mentioned that the method of deployment that Yue An had taught them was very similar to that of the mysterious staff officer from the Free Army. Ji Xiuyun had vaguely guessed that this was the case.
Unlike the First Army Commander, who still had some reservations, Ji Xiuyun didn't suspect Yue An at all.
Yue An had saved his life twice and helped him a lot.
Not to mention anything else, just based on the fact that Yue An had saved him twice and even told him so many secrets, Ji Xiuyun would definitely not suspect Yue An.
Trust was a two-way street, especially for Yue An, who had the instincts of a beast.
Even humans had a keen sense of danger and other people's emotions, let alone beasts, whose instincts were many times stronger than humans.
Of course, he wasn't saying that Yue An was a beast.
He was just saying that Yue An's trust in his instincts was much stronger than humans'.
Yue An could clearly sense whether you trusted him or not and how much you trusted him.
Similarly, Yue An knew what he could do and what he couldn't do. If he felt that he could do it, he would do it directly.
For example, he would go to the Research Department alone and cause a ruckus. Or he would go to the Black Market alone. Or he would turn into a human because of a single sentence from Ji Xiuyun.
Or he would follow Ji Xiuyun to war and teach the Army Commanders how to deploy troops without holding back.
Ji Xiuyun knew very well that Yue An was a little kitten that only knew how to eat or lie lazily under the sun. It was willing to work hard not because Yue An was thinking about the Empire of Sintes.
It was because Yue An trusted Ji Xiuyun and wanted to do him a favor.
Yue An didn't know how to hide his emotions when he was in human form. Furthermore, he would tell Ji Xiuyun everything he knew.
Just like how Ji Xiuyun felt that he owed Yue An too much and wanted to try his best to make up for it, Yue An also felt that he had taken advantage of Ji Xiuyun and wanted to help him.
Therefore, as long as Ji Xiuyun asked him a question, he would tell him everything he knew.
Ji Xiuyun was the same. As long as Yue An wanted something, he would think of a way to get it for Yue An.
Marshal Ji felt very comfortable with this kind of two-way relationship.
This was a sense of reliance and trust that made one's heart flutter.
Therefore, he couldn't help but want to take a step closer.
However, this step was rejected by Yue An because of the difference in aesthetics.
Ji Xiuyun couldn't help but raise his hand to touch his face when he thought about this.
Yue An finally found the array blueprint he was looking for. When he turned around, he saw Ji Xiuyun rubbing his face.
He was stunned and instantly became nervous. "What's wrong with your face?
Did I accidentally scratch you before? "
"No." Ji Xiuyun shook his head and looked into Yue An's eyes. He lowered his hand and sat up straight. "Ugly?"
Yue An, "…"
Why do you still care about this?
You've been despised for more than a week. How can you not care?
Yue An looked serious. "You're not ugly."
Ji Xiuyun nodded. It wasn't clear if he really believed him.
"You're really not ugly," Yue An reiterated.
Ji Xiuyun looked at him silently.
That wasn't what you said before.
"It's true." Yue An reached out and patted Ji Xiuyun's face. "You're quite good-looking."
He paused for two seconds and added, "You're the dream lover of millions of girls. You're not ugly."
When Ji Xiuyun heard this, he seemed to have been convinced. He finally looked away and fixed his gaze on the paper in Yue An's hand.
Yue An readily accepted his advice and passed the paper in his hand to him.
"His array was set up according to the location of the street. Since your family has a lot of energy crystals, they were used as the core of the array."
Ji Xiuyun pushed the paper in Yue An's hand back to him.
He had grown up in science and technology, so he couldn't understand this kind of metaphysics.
"This is the correct, complete version."
As Yue An spoke, he found a few pieces of paper that were filled with dense drawings. "This is the complete version of the array he used in his second battle. This is the one he used in his fifth battle. And this …"
Yue An dug out all the array formations that he could remember and even simulated them in the universe sand table.
Ji Xiuyun looked at the sand table and asked, "What's the conclusion?"
"The conclusion is that the mysterious staff officer was a lucky person who happened to pick up a broken page of an array formation."
As Yue An spoke, he smacked his lips. "That prophet must have awakened some kind of talent or was lucky enough to learn divination and stargazing. The premise is that this is really the Celestial Realm."
Children of celestials were always more talented than ordinary people. If they were lucky enough to encounter some kind of miracle, it wouldn't be too difficult for them to start cultivating again.
"Hmm …" Yue An thought for a while. "However, the biggest possibility is that these two people are the same person."
Ji Xiuyun paused. "What do you mean?"
"There will be retribution for divulging Heaven's secrets. That staff officer doesn't appear often. Perhaps he suffered a backlash after a battle and went to recuperate."
This was also why Yue An felt that this person was a small fry.
On the one hand, the array formation was incomplete. On the other hand, this person was not only good at stargazing, but he also had the guts to make use of the Heaven's secrets to cause trouble.
Logically speaking, in the past, those who learned stargazing and divining couldn't help but reveal the details of their divinations to others didn't have a good ending.
Generally speaking, people would tell you that they had good luck with women or that they were going to face a bloody disaster.
If they revealed more details, they would be punished immediately. If they revealed too many times, even if they didn't die, they would lose a layer of skin.
If they revealed a big secret about the future, there would be no room for discussion. After saying it, they would be struck by lightning and turned into ashes.
Basically, people with a brain would not go to the army to work as staff officers.
What was the difference between this and seeking death?
"But I don't understand. Why are they coming after me?"
Yue An was still very puzzled. "Even if it's because I'm the Nine-Tailed Cat, how do they know that I'm the Nine-Tailed Cat?"
Ji Xiuyun thought for a while and guessed. "… Divination?"
"They don't have my birth characters or a medium related to me, so they can't do divination."
Yue An looked at the few pieces of paper with magic arrays drawn on it with deep hatred. "I don't find it strange that they can calculate the route of the army by stargazing."
Ji Xiuyun turned his head and looked at the stars in the universe outside the window.
Then, as if he suddenly realized something, he slightly pursed his lips. "It's probably because they know that you used magic."
The energy waves of magic were special and violent, as fierce as the collective explosion of a large number of energy crystals.
When cleaning up the battlefield after a war, they had to be extra careful — that was why Ji Xiuyun said that it was a newly developed secret weapon from the beginning and covered it up for Yue An.
But no one would have thought that there was someone in the world who could distinguish the special energy waves!
"Then it could also be an ordinary cat demon!" Yue An retorted.
"No." Ji Xiuyun took out the information discussed by General Ji Xiuyun. "Look at this."
Yue An immediately saw the words "Revive the universe, save mankind" written behind the question about why they wanted to capture him.
Based on the premise that Yue An was a nine-tailed cat, Ji Xiuyun vaguely had a hint of inspiration.
He pondered for a while and asked Yue An, "What do you think?"
"…" Yue An looked at the line of words and thought for a while. "With my eyes?"
Ji Xiuyun: …
Ji Xiuyun stared speechlessly at Yue An for a long time.
"I assume that the universe today is indeed the Immortal Realm."
Ji Xiuyun's finger lightly tapped on the word "revive". "Maybe they want to capture you and then make a wish to revive the Immortal Realm."
Yue An: …
Yue An:???
Aren't these people thinking too highly of me??
Even if you want to make a wish, you have to follow the basic rules, okay??
If you are so awesome, why don't you wish for world peace??
