Enkidu

Chapter 1

In the quiet courtyard, there was a faint scent of flowers in the breeze. The white roses around the courtyard bloomed, and the wind blew the petals away.

There were a few people sitting on the floor in the courtyard, as if they were lighting up the night. They were dazzling existences, and each of them had an outstanding appearance, as well as a unique aura that far exceeded that of ordinary people.

The blond king reached out his hand and caught a falling petal. He stared at the veins on the petal. He had a gentle smile, and his green eyes were as vast and fearless as the sky.

The pure white flowers reminded him of a friend he had not seen for a long time. After parting with him, his friend had embarked on a new journey. He did not know where he was now, and as they were under the jurisdiction of different worlds, it might be difficult for them to meet again.

[If one day, you see a person …]

His friend's parting words echoed in his ears. His light green hair covered all of his expressions. Whether happy or sad, they all disappeared in the starlight of parting.

[Please tell him for me …]

King Arthur raised his cup. The precious metal glistened in his hand, but the wine in the cup did not lose to the vessel that held it. He could not help but sigh. Although their owner was not easy to get along with, at least he had some redeeming qualities.

He was troubled. There were many things that could be proven, but he was still confused. Why would his friend befriend such a person?

He glanced at the Oldest King.

Why would such an arrogant person be close friends with his friend? He was not even close to being close friends.

The first meeting left a bad impression, and it was difficult for the stubborn King Arthur to change his slightly biased attitude.

"Blond hair, red eyes."

It was indeed a rare and fitting symbol. But with so many heroic spirits on the Throne of Heroes, he might not be able to confirm the other's true identity.

He suddenly remembered what his friend had said to him.

That summer, King Arthur who had not accepted his mission was just a trainee Knights who dreamed of success. He would still find a chance to rest and play after tough training.

Occasionally, when the weather was hot, he would rest under the shade of a tree. His friend would sometimes sit on a branch and talk with him about things that had nothing to do with reality.

Even with his eyes closed, he could still remember. White clothes, because he was leaning on the back of a tree. His hair was like newly grown leaves between the branches, and his bright smile was as transparent as a stream.

"Saber, do you have any wishes?"

Rider's master asked curiously. He was a young student and naturally wanted to know more about the famous figures in myths and legends.

Even his own master could not help but look at him. After all, he had never mentioned the reason why he wanted to obtain the Holy Grail from the moment he was summoned.

King Arthur snapped out of his daze and said.

"I don't have a wish."

"My wish has come true."

He should not even have appeared here. However, to complete the request of his friend, he had signed a temporary contract with Gaia.

"Strictly speaking, I came to the modern world to fulfill someone's wish."

Gilgamesh seemed to have sensed something, and his cold eyes looked towards Arthur. Compared to Arthur's soft golden color, his golden color was extremely aggressive, and his upright and handsome face suddenly appeared dignified and gorgeous.

"Then, what is the other party's wish?"

"He told me that he had been to many places and seen many unforgettable and beautiful scenes, but there was one place that was engraved in his soul and could not be erased by these things."

That place was called the Uruk.

There was a building that a person was most proud of. Under the sun, the city shone with a bronze light, gathering the efforts and wisdom of all the people.

"If one day, I meet a king with golden hair and red eyes, please tell him that one day, he will find that place and fulfill the unfulfilled promise …"

King Arthur was clearly smiling, but for some reason, the clear smile that was like the sky dimmed slightly.

"One day, we will meet."

= = =

Darkness.

Endless darkness.

Enkidu was surrounded by darkness, walking aimlessly in the boundless space.

Whose wish still needed to be fulfilled?

He thought without any emotions.

Because there was no difference between time and space, there were countless strong wishes from time and space gathered here. All the voices overlapped, and it was so noisy that it could not enter the ears. It was impossible to hear what was being said, and he could only feel the souls connected to the wishes.

If they wanted to survive in other worlds, they had to fulfill their wishes.

And by fulfilling their wishes, Enkidu would get the chance to fulfill their wishes.

And his wish was …

Enkidu reached out his hand and gently grasped the embryonic form of a wish. Because it was newly formed, it seemed particularly young and weak.

Connected to the opposite side of the wish was a rare golden soul.

Looking at the line that kept jumping in his hand and intersecting with the future Gozhu, Enkidu made his choice.

— — —

"I really hate water."

The sword that he was waving was thrown into the lake because he used too much force, and Arthur had to go into the water to retrieve his beloved weapon.

At only fourteen years old, he was still an ordinary boy who was slightly mature but still lively.

He had things that he liked and things that he hated. For example, he did not like to swim. He did not know that it was because of the Red Dragon blood in his body, and he was secretly sulking.

When he finally touched the hilt of the sword, Arthur let out a sigh of relief. His adoptive father was not from a wealthy family, and a good quality sword was already a huge expense. If he knew that he had lost the sword, he might have been even stricter on his originally tight training.

Brother Guy did not want to stay at home for a while because of this reason.

Thinking about other things to divert his attention, Arthur could not pay attention to the temperature and touch of the water that wrapped around his body. Usually, he would not think so much when he was bathing.

An ice-cold hand suddenly grabbed his shoulder.

The hand was very soft, but very strong. It was trying to drag Arthur into the deep water.

He was caught off guard and choked on a few mouthfuls of water. He waved the sword that he had found behind him.

"Huh?"

It was clearly a woman's voice. She called out in confusion, and still silently dragged Arthur into the center of the lake.

In the present day where the "mystery" had yet to fade, there were still many non-humans in the world. Arthur had once met a white deer with antlers, but light was accompanied by darkness. There were good intentions and bad intentions towards humans.

Arthur was afraid that he had met a fairy who liked to play pranks.

The closer he got to the center of the lake, the harder it was for him to breathe. He could only try to raise his head to prevent himself from drowning in the water.

"Live … I want … to live."

This was the only thought in his mind.

This wish was not strong. The young and energetic trainee Knights still felt that he had a chance of winning.

But his strength was gradually decreasing, not only because of the long time in the water, but also because the fairy that grabbed him seemed to have some kind of magic that was reducing his strength.

[Are you sure you want to fulfill your wish?]

A line of words appeared in his mind.

Arthur narrowed his eyes, thinking that he had seen wrong.

But there was not enough time for him to think. He felt that there seemed to be more things coming from the bottom of the water. If he was entangled, he would not be able to escape.

"I choose … Agree."

The whistling wind circled around. The strong wind brought stinging pain to his skin. The wind speed was getting stronger and stronger. Arthur could not open his eyes. He could only hear the shrill screams of the fairy behind him.

The green-haired boy closed his eyes quietly, paused for a moment, and slowly opened them.

He had light green pupils that were the same color as his hair. Soft waves of light swayed in his eyes, like a spring river.

As if he could not understand why he was in the water, he blinked.

His long hair and white clothes were completely soaked. This discomfort could be completely ignored.

Enkidu did not like water either.

After all, clay figurines would melt when they entered water.

More importantly, Gozhu's safety was the most important.

Enkidu grabbed Arthur's hand. His body turned into a long chain, and the other end was tied to a tree by the lake.

With an irresistible pull, Arthur finally climbed ashore, trembling.

"My name is Enkidu. From today onwards, I will be your familiar until I fulfill my wish. Then I will leave."

His tone was distant, but his expression was very gentle.

"My name is Arthur. Thank you for saving me."

Arthur did not understand what Enkidu was talking about. He was even more confused about things like familiars.

But he was very grateful that Enkidu appeared to save him.

"No, even if I didn't save you, you would be fine."

Enkidu shook his head, walked to the lake, and apologized to the person he had hurt.

A few beautiful girls emerged from the bottom of the water and looked at Enkidu timidly.

"I'm sorry for hurting you, but your way of expressing friendliness was too unique. It scared my Gozhu."

The girls looked at each other and dived into the water. It seemed that they did not understand why Arthur treated them like this.

The elves were simple-minded. They only invited Arthur to play because they felt close to Arthur's bloodline.

"What are they?"

Arthur had been practicing swordsmanship by the lake for a long time, but this was the first time he knew that there was another world at the bottom of the lake.

Every day when he practiced, someone would secretly observe him in the lake. It felt like he was being watched.

"They are the relatives of the Lake Fairy. They like to wander around where there is water." Enkidu explained based on the knowledge he had. "They are very friendly elves."
