Enkidu

Chapter 2

Arthur pulled the horse he used for traveling and walked back to the village on his way home.

Along the way, there were people constantly greeting him, and the young man responded with a smile. The afterglow of the setting sun fell on his youthful but gradually revealed handsome face, adding a bit of haze to it.

He was wearing coarse clothes and had a tall and straight posture. Although he was only fourteen years old, he was already very tall, slightly taller than an adult by a head. His sleeves were rolled up and the smooth lines of his muscles could be seen from his exposed arms.

"Arthur!"

His companions in the village waved at him and hurriedly ran to him, panting.

"Your mare looks like she's about to give birth."

Arthur liked horses very much.

It wasn't because he had many horses at home that he gradually developed feelings for them, but he was naturally fond of these loyal and friendly animals.

Recently, the mare was pregnant. Calculating the time, she was indeed going to give birth in these two days.

He couldn't help but worry.

After greeting his adoptive father, Aikto, Arthur went straight to the stable and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the beautiful white horse.

"Good, good, good. Let me take care of you tonight."

Arthur stroked his beloved horse's head as he looked at the air beside him and said embarrassedly.

"Sorry, this country is in turmoil. The village doesn't allow strangers to enter, so I can only ask you to hide your identity."

"It's okay, your judgment is correct."

A clear voice came from an empty corner.

Enkidu revealed his original appearance and looked at the white horse with a bulging belly. Whether it was a mother or a cub, they all made him feel close, but because of his unfamiliar relationship with Gozhu, Enkidu didn't approach.

"Its name is Lío."

Arthur's expression had an indescribable cheerfulness and gentleness. The white horse snorted and intimately rubbed against his face.

"Its body is very healthy. It will definitely give birth to a beautiful pony."

Enkidu looked at "Lío" without blinking. It could be seen that Arthur took good care of it. His perception of life told him that it could give birth to its offspring tonight.

"Lío and I are about the same age."

Arthur scratched his head, feeling a little happy that he no longer needed to talk to himself to relieve his loneliness. "It can even be considered as my senior. When I was born, it was already half a year old."

For Arthur, who did not have many friends growing up, every time he took care of them and talked to them, he would feel very happy.

But for the first time, having a listener who wasn't even a friend by his side didn't cause him any trouble.

After distributing the fodder to the other horses to fill their stomachs, Arthur still had to practice his swordsmanship until Lío gave birth to the ponies. Only then could he spare some time to visit them.

He was about to undertake a very heavy mission.

The young boy was ignorant of his future mission, but he still could not understand the seriousness of the problem. However, he continued to move forward with determination and continued to work hard.

Dusk was approaching, and the chirping of insects never stopped for even a moment.

Even though they had only known each other for a day, Enkidu knew that his Gozhu was very hardworking.

This kind of effort was not aimless. He was very talented, knew his direction, and never slacked off.

It was no wonder that he could become a heroic spirit. He had a high-quality golden soul.

Enkidu actually could not imagine what Gozhu's wish was.

He stood in the forest, feeling the continuous flow of spiritual power from the earth. Because of his special physique, he could rely on the power of the earth to strengthen himself without consuming Gozhu's magic.

In Great Britain, where the "mystery" had not yet been eliminated, the activity of spiritual power was almost equivalent to the level of the earth veins in the future.

His beautiful face showed a thoughtful expression, and sometimes he praised Gozhu's superb swordsmanship. Enkidu believed that Gozhu would become a great person in the future. Perhaps at that time, he would be able to see what Gozhu's wish was.

The night gradually deepened.

In an era where there were no electric lights and oil lamps were very precious, there was no scene of bright lights at night. There was only darkness. People went to bed early to prepare for the next day.

Arthur naturally did not have a lamp to support his cultivation. He used the bright moonlight in the sky to illuminate himself. Sometimes the clouds would cover the moon, so he could only rely on his feelings to wield his sword.

Enkidu gently raised his hand.

The light around him suddenly became much brighter.

Arthur thought that it was because of the moon, but the light that lingered around him was light green.

Countless green fireflies floated in the air. The weak light formed a beautiful curtain of light that drifted with the breeze.

He could not help but look at Enkidu.

Enkidu's gaze was no longer on him. He was lost in thought as he stared at the cluster of green lights that lit up one after another. The depths of his eyes reflected these lights, bright and dazzling, as if they were the stars in the sky.

They had only met for a short time, but a very intimate feeling affected Arthur's mood. He could actually see that there was a faint confusion in that pair of entranced eyes.

He seemed to be thinking about something, but also as if he was not thinking about anything.

The fireflies that were like falling stars might have made him remember some special memories.

Arthur let out a long breath. Although he was very grateful to Enkidu for his help, he did not want to disturb him. So he continued with his cultivation.

In the latter half of the night, Lío finally gave birth.

She gave birth to a beautiful white pony. There were no other colors on its body. It was very similar to its mother.

Arthur named it Talance.

Because he cared about the newborn pony, Arthur did not plan to go home to sleep.

He had been busy for so long that he might disturb Aikto if he was a bit louder.

He wanted to make room for Enkidu, but Enkidu shook his head and said that he did not need to sleep.

This made Arthur very envious.

Even if he compressed his sleep to three hours, the necessary practice time was still not enough. He was eager to improve himself, and with the invasion of the other races, this desire was even stronger.

He, who was designed to be born as an "ideal king," existed to pacify the war in Great Britain.

This was the belief that his teacher Merlin instilled in Arthur in his dreams night after night since he could remember.

After a day of hard work, Arthur's spirit could finally relax a little.

As soon as he closed his eyes, his teacher dragged his consciousness into the dream space as if urging him.

Enkidu sensed the fluctuation of Gozhu's magic and frowned thoughtfully.

"Is it a magical beast?

Or a human? "

The owner of the mana fluctuations emitting such a mysterious aura was a young man.

His long rainbow hair was not as soft as Enkidu's. It was slightly messy and draped over his shoulders.

He was wearing a hood, and his purple eyes were as blue as the night sky, giving people a magical feeling that they couldn't look directly at him. His candid and gorgeous appearance was strangely harmonious, and the smile he always maintained was very refreshing, making people believe him.

The Flower Magician pinched his chin and looked at his disciple with interest.

Arthur was uncomfortable under his gaze.

Even if Merlin taught him a lot of things, Arthur had to admit that his teacher had a bad taste, and he could never guess what he was thinking. He was a strange man.

Arthur vaguely sensed that Merlin had something that he had yet to say, but he was still holding back. However, Arthur was not that curious. Ever since he was sensible, he had been teased by this man with the truth and lies. He knew that even if he asked, he might not get the answer in his heart.

"Arthur, you will be fifteen next year, right?"

His teacher suddenly asked a completely unrelated question.

"Yes, there is still a year until my fifteenth birthday."

In this war-torn island country, a fifteen-year-old man was considered an adult. When he was older, he could even enlist in the army and participate in the war.

To be honest, for Arthur, who had a bit of strength and had never lost to anyone of his age, war was not something he could look forward to. Compared to the youths nearby who were eager to make contributions, he wanted to stay in the town and live a peaceful life with his adoptive father, Ector, and his adoptive brother, Guy.

"It seems that I have to prepare early."

The Magician's muttering did not reach Arthur who was deep in thought. The normal conversation ended as usual, and they continued with the lesson.

Arthur did not know that under the Flower Magician's "Clairvoyance", Merlin saw that the tragic life of the future king was drifting away from its original trajectory.

The outcome that could not be distinguished was extremely beautiful, and it made the Son of Nightmares hesitate whether to intervene.

But … there was no ending that would be worse than the previous one.

The golden-haired baby that he created with his own hands had the almost impossible existence of the sinful bloodline between the dragon and the human. He only confirmed his potential and treated him as the future king. That was indeed the best king that was going to be born. Unfortunately, the people who had high expectations for him would not know that when the baby was just born.

He would be shackled under the eyes of the people around him, and step by step, he would be betrayed by others and eventually die.

Merlin was looking forward to seeing the golden sword that was created for the king. He wondered if King Arthur, whose fate was changing, would still hold onto it and walk on the magnificent and tragic path of loneliness.
