I Am Really a Witch
Chapter 10
It was impossible for anyone to know that she was the culprit. Circy calmly followed Sir Lucas home after the ball ended.
Elizabeth laughed so hard that her stomach hurt. She waved goodbye to the sisters weakly.
On the way home, Mrs. Lucas could not help but complain. She was not concerned about the mess at the end. Like every mother with an unmarried daughter in Longborn, she was focused on the rich bachelor, Mr. Bentley.
"The eldest daughter of the Bennet family is really lucky. Mr. Bentley really thinks highly of her," Mrs. Lucas said sourly. Then, she sighed. "It's all because she has such good looks …"
She was silent for a while and looked a little worried. She gently hugged her two daughters and said, "How I wish you two would also …" She sighed again. "My girls are so outstanding, but they only have eyes for their pretty faces!"
Mrs. Lucas had been saying this for years. She did not really hate anyone, but she was just a little bit of a mother's pride.
She had watched Jane grow up, and the relationship between the Lucas and Bennett families had always been good. In fact, she was happy that Mr. Bentley liked Jane.
"Okay, girls, go to bed. You are tired after the ball."
She came out of her disappointment again, gently stroked the heads of the sisters, and gave them each a goodnight kiss.
The sisters went downstairs hand in hand. Circy tilted her head slightly and looked at Charlotte with a worried look.
She knew in her heart that Mrs. Lucas was so anxious because she was worried about Charlotte.
Charlotte was indeed a smart girl, but she wasn't good-looking. Her body was a little stout. After so many years, she had gone to several balls, but she hadn't had any breakthroughs in her relationship. She was getting older year by year.
In this era, if the eldest sister did not marry, the younger sisters could not talk about marriage. Circy was not worried, but she knew that Charlotte and Mrs. Lucas could not be.
This era was too unkind to girls like Charlotte.
Circy thought a little sadly. Charlotte put pressure on herself. Circy knew that her sister had even learned to flatter those idiots.
Sometimes Circy thought about giving Charlotte a love potion. She would make whoever she liked drunk. It was simple and violent.
But it was just a thought.
Witches were the taboo of taboos. If Circy was still the modern Circy, she would not care much about the trouble she caused. But now, she did not want to involve her family.
Circy looked at Charlotte's gray face and sighed silently.
— — —
With things on her mind, Circy was not as carefree as before.
She was not in the mood to go out and replenish her supplies. All day long, she stayed in front of her small flower bed, staring blankly.
Therefore, when Y'lisabet rushed over to find her, she did not react in time.
Elizabeth rushed in while calling Circy's name. When she stood in front of Circy, she was panting heavily, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
She did not wait to catch her breath and hurriedly said in a sharp voice, "Circy, Jane has a cold!"
Circy finally reacted. She stood up abruptly, turned her head and rushed to the basement, "I'll be right there!"
"Charlotte!
I'm going out with Y 'lisabet. We might be late! "With that, Circe was hurriedly pulled away by Y' lisabet.
When they were on the road, Elizabeth explained the whole thing to him in detail.
At that ball, Mr. Bentley was very fond of Jane, and Miss Bentley also expressed the intention of befriending Jane.
Today was the day when Miss Bentley invited Jane to the Netherfield, but Mrs. Bennett insisted that Jane go by horse despite the gloomy weather, which made Jane angry.
Elizabeth was a little angry when she said this.
She regarded Circy as her younger sister, and she was a straightforward person. She always spoke without scruples, "Mother is really too much!
She just won't let Jane go by carriage. I don't know what Mr. Bentley and the others will think of Jane! "Her face was red, and it was not clear whether it was because of anger or embarrassment.
Circy always knew that Mrs. Bennett was a brainless woman, but she was still shocked by her simple-mindedness.
She understood, of course, that Mrs. Bennet was at pains to create an opportunity for Jane, but it was rather crude in the way it was done.
Thinking of this, she did not know whether to laugh or cry.
After that, they did not speak again, and just hurried on.
The ground was muddy after the rain. Their shoes were long gone, and the hem of their skirts was splashed with mud.
Without seeing Jane's condition with their own eyes, they could not be at ease in any case, and just wanted to get there as soon as possible.
The Netherfield was neither near nor far.
On weekdays, when there was a whole day to walk around, for Circy, this part of the road was just a matter of playing with Cassandra.
But now that they were in a hurry to see Jane, the road seemed long, and Circy even faintly complained that Mr. Maurice had to choose such a remote place.
When Mr. Bentley's butler saw the two girls, his usually expressionless face showed a rare look of astonishment. He even froze for a few seconds before he showed his usual smile and picked up his polite attitude.
"Miss Bennett and Miss Lucas are here to visit."
After asking for the purpose of the visit, the butler raised his voice to inform the masters in the house, and led Elizabeth and Circy into the house.
The two girls who had crawled through the mud could not be expected to have any manners at this time.
Their hair was disheveled, their cheeks were flushed after strenuous exercise, and their skirts were unbearable to look at.
But their eyes were very bright.
When Darcy came down from upstairs, he noticed the girl's eyes at first glance.
The light from the window shone on her face, and her pupils shone with a strange golden-green color, which seemed to coincide with the scene of their first meeting.
For a moment, he was stunned again. It was not until Bentley passed him that he came back to his senses.
But he could not feel annoyed.
Elizabeth saw that everyone had come down, and she nervously adjusted her skirt.
Circy was much more of a bachelor. Of the two bachelors in this room, one was in love with Jane, and the other was not her ideal type at all. She was not interested in what she looked like now.
But that rude gentleman, why was he standing on the stairs in a daze when he was just going downstairs?
