I Only Have One Piece of Land
Chapter 11
Abigail slept until the afternoon before she woke up.
The new sofa was very comfortable. She covered herself with a blanket and slept with her limbs spread out.
She slept so much that her bones felt like jelly.
Abigail covered her eyes with her hands. She was in a daze. The sun was shining outside the window. She took out her phone. It was two o 'clock in the afternoon.
She rubbed her face against the back of the sofa, hugged the blanket, and groaned a few times. One of her feet explored the floor, and when she found a pair of slippers, she put her foot in and maintained the posture of her upper body on the sofa and lower body on the floor. After about five minutes, she raised her head and sat up.
Her hair was messy and her face was dirty. Her expression was dull and her eyes were lifeless.
Loki glanced outside the window. This girl was getting more and more careless. In the beginning, she would close the curtains before going to bed every night. Now, she was just short of scratching her feet in front of him.
(Abby: Nonsense!
I never scratch my feet!)
She stood up shakily and walked to the bathroom while combing her hair. The sound of running water faintly traveled to the living room. After about ten minutes, Abigail, who had washed herself clean, jumped out of the bathroom feeling refreshed.
The new stove!
The new cupboard!
The new fridge!
The new countertop!
Abigail rolled up her sleeves. She was full of excitement!
"I'm going to make a stew!" She checked the new furniture and took out a few tomatoes.
The System saw her enthusiasm and thought that she was going to show off her cooking skills. It was stunned when it heard the name of the dish.
Abigail cut the tomatoes into pieces and was intoxicated with herself, "Nice cut!"
"Why do you want to make a level one dish?" The System complained, "Isn't your cooking level five?"
"… Because the ingredients in the new fridge are limited."
Abigail confessed, "When I sold the old fridge, I forgot to take out the things inside."
"…" The System was speechless, "Are you sure Loki will eat this?
There's no meat at all? "
"Probably."
Abigail shrugged, "The beef and tomato stew is gone with the fridge. Now this is all that's left in the house. What can I do? I'm desperate too."
She carried a bowl of tomato, potato and lettuce to the window.
"That's it?" Loki was indeed disgusted. He pushed the plate away and refused with a proud expression.
The twig jumped to the edge of the plate and used its foot (?)
He stirred the stew.
"But there's nothing in the fridge."
Abigail was also in a dilemma. "Just eat whatever you like today. After all, I worked hard to make it."
"No." Loki didn't even look at the hodgepodge. "I'll just wait for dinner."
But there was no meat for dinner.
Abigail pursed her lips, scooped a spoonful of soup, and tiptoed close to Loki's mouth. "Try it. It tastes very good."
Loki raised his chin higher and higher. Abigail's hands were sore from stretching, but he still didn't open his mouth.
She sighed and put the spoon into her mouth. "It's delicious."
He was a little unhappy.
Abigail squatted on the sofa, holding the bowl, and shoveling the food into her mouth.
Why was he always so childish? So many things happened last night. Did he expect her to go out and buy meat?
In fact, this dish was not simple. It had to be washed and cut. She made the vegetables very clean.
Abigail scooped up the last bit of food in the bowl and glanced at Loki resentfully.
He was still sitting in the room, reading a book, and didn't even look outside.
Abigail pouted, opened her mouth, and threw the spoon back into the bowl with a clang. She snorted and ignored him.
She did her own thing the whole afternoon and didn't go near the window. In the evening, she warmed up the remaining stew and only filled a bowl. She sat in the chair alone, eating and playing with her phone.
Loki finally glanced at him from the corner of his eyes. He unconsciously tapped the desk with his fingers.
She didn't look at him the whole afternoon.
Loki looked at Abigail from the corner of his eyes. He didn't know what she was playing. Her fingers were tapping on the screen, and her face was smiling happily. She didn't even notice that the left side of her face was stained with sauce.
Abigail had long forgotten that there was an angry Loki next door. She squatted on the chair, put the bowl on her knees, held a spoon in one hand and played with her phone in the other. She was happily chatting with Mr. Stark.
That's right!
She had reestablished contact with Mr. Stark!
He sincerely apologized for using Jarvis to deal with the girl, and suggested that he and Abigail reestablish their friendship.
Although she still had some reservations about this, Abigail wasn't the type to be calculative (Really?) since the other party had taken the initiative to express their goodwill, Abigail wasn't the type to be calculative.
"Stark is so easy to flirt with." The System said, "His affection for you is already the same as Loki's."
"It only took about 40 minutes, and he already has 30 affection."
Abigail added up the length of their conversation, "It's a pity that I can't lock him up. Raising him is definitely easier than raising Loki!"
"It seems that Loki is really difficult to deal with."
The System was very emotional, "You've spent the most time with him, but now Stark's affection is the same as his. Even Blake's affection is higher than his."
It took time to glance at her, "It's just that Blake is too young. It will take a few years for him to grow up."
The System's mind was full of rubbish. Abigail didn't want to argue with it, "Mr. Stark asked me to have dinner again. Do you think I should go this time?"
"Of course!"
The System seemed to have forgotten how much it despised scumbags, "Although Stark isn't a good person, you can use him to embarrass Loki. Let him know that you're very popular!"
What the heck!
Abigail's reply speed paused. She secretly glanced at the room. Loki didn't seem to care about what she was doing. He was sitting on the bed with a book in one hand. His fingers were clear, slender, and pale.
She didn't know why, but she still had a trace of vigilance against Mr. Stark. She didn't want him to discover her little secret. And what about Loki? He hadn't eaten anything today. If she wasn't there at night, would he starve for the whole day?
But Mr. Stark had asked her out twice. She couldn't think of any reason to refuse. In addition, the System kept nagging in her ear. Her determination was somewhat shaken.
She put down her phone, opened the fridge, and counted the ingredients inside. There was nothing to Loki's liking!
There wasn't even a piece of meat!
She raised her head and glanced at Loki again. She gritted her teeth and picked up her phone.
Loki read two pages of his book in the afternoon. When Abigail finally walked to the fridge, he smiled triumphantly.
Some idiots couldn't be spoiled too much. Once his attitude was good, they would take a mile after an inch.
But he didn't hear the sound of Abigail cooking again. Instead, he saw her open the closet and start to pick out clothes!
Loki frowned. He put down the book. Abby was going on a date?
With whom?
That dog?
Abigail didn't have many good clothes, but she knew that she couldn't embarrass Mr. Stark.
Her hair was soft and shiny. It looked good with it down. Abigail put on light makeup. After looking in the mirror for a long time, she decided to tie her hair up.
While she was tying her hair, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Before Loki could close the curtains, he saw Abigail walking to the door while tying her hair up. She didn't ask who it was and just opened the door.
She was too careless!
Loki stared at Abigail, who was wearing a short skirt. Because she was holding her hair with one hand, her skirt was slightly raised, almost one-third of her thigh was exposed.
Although he couldn't see outside the door, he could imagine the little deaf and blind girl nodding at the person outside with a smile. She was a single woman living alone. Didn't anyone tell her not to open the door for others?
Abigail wasn't worried at all. She had already set the door so that only she could enter. Without her permission, even Iron Man with a palm cannon couldn't blast her door open.
She took the pizza box from the delivery man and put a few pieces with more meat on the plate. Then she picked up a glass of water and gave it to Loki angrily. She put the plate on the windowsill heavily.
Loki put down his book and walked over. He was even more unhappy. He glanced at the plate and felt that she wasn't being sincere.
"I'm going out tonight. Just put the plate on the windowsill after you're done eating."
Abigail only poked the back of Loki's hand with her fingertips. She finished the sentence dryly and prepared to leave.
It was worse than the stew at noon.
Loki looked at the still steaming pizza, but didn't grab Abigail back. He watched as she looked for her shoes. After a while, she picked up her phone and went out with her bag. Before she left, she slammed the door loudly.
She went out and took a deep breath. A few meters away, Tonny was leaning against a flashy purple sports car and waving at her.
Abigail smiled at him and jogged over.
Tony opened the passenger door for her and covered the roof with his hand. It was the first time Abigail was treated like this. She was flattered. She bent down slightly and was about to get into the car, but she felt something was wrong. She turned around and looked outside.
Tonny said something, but Abigail didn't understand. She smiled and sat back in the car.
Tonny fastened his seat belt. Seeing that Abigail was still looking out the window, he asked jokingly, "Am I not enough to get your full attention?"
Abigail felt a chill down her spine, as if someone was staring at her.
She didn't understand what Mr. Stark was saying, but she felt that it was weird for her to take the initiative to touch his skin in such an enclosed space.
She turned around and smiled apologetically at Tonny again without saying anything.
It seemed that this woman wasn't in a good mood today.
Tonny shrugged and stepped on the accelerator. It didn't matter. The richest man in New York had a thousand ways to make a girl happy!
Maybe it was because Iron Man was so used to driving a suit that even an ordinary sports car felt like an airplane to him.
He was racing in the city. Abigail was a little nervous. She subconsciously grabbed Tonny's arm.
"Are you feeling better?"
Tonny turned around and glanced at Abigail. "There's nothing more relaxing than a drive!"
Don't look at me! Look at the road!
Abigail was so scared that she wanted to pin Stark's head to the back of the car seat.
"Play some music!"
As soon as he said that, a dynamic piece of music came out of the stereo. At the same time, he made several sharp turns and overtook several cars in front of him.
Along the way, Abigail felt dizzy. Even when she reached the restaurant, she could still vaguely hear the rhythmic sounds of beating.
Tonny pulled out a chair for Abigail. There were only the two of them in the dining room. The waiters had already put away all the other tables and chairs and redecorated the hall with flowers and decorations. Someone was playing the piano. The soft music calmed Abigail's pounding heart.
Tonny rested his chin on his hands and looked at Abigail seriously. "Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp ~"
Awkward!
Abigail was in a dilemma. She stared at Mr. Stark's hand and wondered how she could touch him.
The waiter was still standing by the table, talking about something. Abigail regretted going to the appointment. After all, she had grabbed Mr. Stark so naturally that she had subconsciously forgotten that it was weird for men and women to touch each other.
Her fingers stretched and retracted, but she didn't have the courage to do so.
Just as she was at a loss of what to do, the waiter who was standing at the side moved slightly closer to her. He held a book in one hand and lowered the other. Seemingly inadvertently, his fingertips fell on the back of Abigail's shoulder. "… The fresh upper part of your head. Sir, would you like me to move your chair to your partner's side?"
The request was so strange that Tonny was stunned. Abigail was still in shock that the waiter saw through her for the first time. She was even more surprised when she heard his words.
But in any case, this unknown gentleman had solved her urgent problem.
They sat together. Her elbow was next to Mr. Stark's forearm, which looked quite natural.
The dinner was very enjoyable. Abigail completely forgot about the unpleasantness before she went out. However, she didn't see the waiter who had seen through her little secret after she glanced at the dining hall several times.
On the way back, Tonny slowed down the car. Abigail enjoyed the evening breeze, very satisfied with tonight's date.
"Are you still not going to invite me in?" Tonny pulled Abby, who was saying goodbye to him, and winked at her ambiguously.
For some reason, although there were all kinds of scandals about him, Abigail sincerely believed that Mr. Stark was a gentleman. She had drunk some wine in the evening, so her face was red. "Maybe we can get to know each other better. That's fine."
"Oh, it seems that my performance wasn't satisfactory!" Tonny pretended to sigh in annoyance. "I'm looking forward to our next date."
Abigail smiled. She pulled her hand out of Mr. Stark's and turned to walk home. When she was about to enter the door, she felt that creepy feeling again. She turned around and looked into the yard.
Tonny leaned against the car and watched Abigail leave. When he saw her turn around, he put one hand in his pocket and blew her a kiss with the other.
Maybe he was being too sensitive.
Abigail waved at Mr. Stark and turned to enter the house.
The pizza on the windowsill was completely untouched. Loki even closed the window.
Abigail took off her high heels and put away the tray barefoot. She thought for a moment and decided not to argue with the childish person. She knocked on the window.
No one answered her.
Abigail pouted. She drank red wine, completed the system mission, had a perfect date, and had 150 points added to her lifetime reward. She was in a wonderful mood and wanted to share it with someone. Unfortunately, the only living person in the house ignored her.
She took a shower and chatted with the system on the sofa.
"By the way, what's the name of the waiter today?" She remembered this and hurriedly looked at her relationship column.
"Sherlock Holmes, favorability level 5?"
A man with stubble on his chin and a slightly high hairline appeared in her relationship chart. Although he had shaved his beard, he looked ten years younger than in the picture.
