Chapter 202: Who Warned the Demon Race Not to Be Fooled? It Can’t Be Me, Right?
Although this projection of the Garden of Eden could not possibly contain the true Rod of Eden, it would likely revert to its original position after the Supreme Divine Spell dissipated.
However, right below this projection stood the Lady of Light and the Order of Oracle Knights, so this did not present a significant problem.
Thousands of miles away, the true Rod of Eden was flying toward the Lady of Light’s location, precisely as she had planned.
“I see now, this is Her Holiness’s strategy!”
“Her Holiness is truly formidable; she can control the Divine Artifact with such ease.”
“This is our radiant Her Holiness!”
“Holy, beautiful, and so wise, I would give my life for Her Holiness!”
“Rod of Eden—it has returned…”
“Thank you, Her Holiness!”
“Lord, Your glory shall shine across the land once more.”
The knights and priests felt the powerful presence of the Divine Artifact approaching, sensing the gentle, holy, purifying energy of the Rod of Eden coming from afar, and they spoke with profound emotion.
Janine Irene observed these church Superoperators, who had served The Church of Light for many years, displaying genuine emotion as if witnessing the power of Holy Light for the first time, spontaneously praying and kneeling, and seeing the Paladins and Holy Light Pastors shedding tears, she could not help but sigh.
“This is the charm of Her Holiness…”
She sighed thus and quietly made a gesture of prayer.
“Thank you, my Lord, thank you, Her Holiness…”
As the Light Artifact flew over Hillenbrand Town, Lolth, who was enjoying ice cream delivered by Tina, feeling the evening breeze and gazing at the starry sky from the lookout tower, finally noticed the flying Light Artifact and also sensed the great waves of Holy Light energy from miles away.
“Oh my… The Church of Light had this up its sleeve, huh? The Supreme Divine Spell, indeed… I didn’t expect that after the oracle arrived, the saintess herself would follow.”
Lolth, as if watching a spectacle, observed the Rod of Eden slowly flying overhead and marveled.
In her assessment, the wisest action regarding this Light Artifact would be to remove it quickly.
After all, the God of Light would not manifest except during divine battles, so this Light Artifact would not benefit the Holy Alliance in any practical way and would not be deployed on the frontlines daily, thus Lolth felt no particular emotion about it.
Just as she had stated previously, the greatest danger lay in retaining it and having The Church of Light constantly fixated on it.
Nevertheless, since a Divine Artifact had flown from her territory, the Demon King might impose a minor punishment to admonish her.
“I hope it is merely a demotion.”
Lolth stood on the lookout tower and began to earnestly pray to the flying Light Artifact, Rod of Eden.
Then, Lolth continued to disguise her magic as Holy Light power, carefully examining the internal structure of that supreme Holy Light divine spell, hoping to glean insights from it.
Even though she certainly could not cast the Supreme Divine Spell herself, she might gain some inspiration to marginally improve her understanding of Holy Light divine spells.
After covertly observing for a while, Lolth quickly comprehended the principle of this divine spell.
“Ah, it weakens the Dimensional Barrier by increasing the concentration of Holy Light, while simulating the Holy Light fluctuations of the Garden of Eden to manifest part of the Divine Kingdom in the real world… This mechanism seems somewhat similar to my previous creation of a half-plane channel… Though mine appeared to become somewhat uncontrolled; this aspect could serve as a reference.”
Observing the operation of this divine spell, Lolth immediately experienced a sense of familiarity and recalled the spell she used to generate a small Plane Magic Tide to open the main plane channel.
After returning to the main plane, Lolth also recognized, from the residual magic fluctuations in the north, that the magic she had hastily invented still contained many underdeveloped aspects. Compared to this Supreme Divine Spell, she identified even more areas requiring improvement.
Although one is a divine spell designed to bring the projection of the Divine Kingdom into the world, and the other is intended to open the legendary half-plane channel, they nonetheless share certain similarities.
Having studied and refined this Supreme Divine Spell, Lolth believed she might be able to open the half-plane channel without triggering the Plane Magic Tide.
Even though opening the half-plane channel was not an urgent necessity for Lolth, she could not resist her interest in enhancing magical techniques.
So she instinctively began to draw in the air with the power of Holy Light, creating a miniature model of the Supreme Divine Spell.
She visualized what this Supreme Divine Spell might resemble.
Then, during the process of simulating in the air with the power of Holy Light, Lolth developed a deeper understanding of the functions of this divine spell.
“Not only does it create a projection, but the area it encompasses feels like the Divine Kingdom; as long as one employs the power of Holy Light, they will be strengthened within and will continuously heal those who utilize the power of Holy Light…”
Lolth felt mildly astonished at the effects of this divine spell.
Simultaneously, she realized that despite there being only the Oracle Knight Order present, three or five Demon Legions would likely struggle significantly.
Especially in this area, it can block all investigations except those utilizing the power of Holy Light. In other words, no one outside the Church of Light, save for someone like herself, could possibly know what was occurring.
“This is an elaborate trap! If the divine spell’s projected area could relocate after being cast, the Church of Light would probably be invincible by now!”
“It’s remarkable that Shelldor managed to prevent the entire demon dragon army from charging in… Did she perceive this was an ambush?”
Lolth continued to analyze the divine spell while pondering.
Then, she noticed something peculiar.
“But… that’s implausible. The initial phase of casting this divine spell doesn’t generate such an immense wave of Holy Light power that can be detected throughout Vera Plain… Even if Shelldor could exercise restraint, how could Achilles avoid capture?”
Even in its reduced version, the Holy Light power she has infused into it is already formidable.
“Could it be that the Demon King warned someone beforehand… or someone else? It couldn’t possibly be just me, right?”
As Lolth contemplated this, a disturbing possibility suddenly entered her mind.
“Wait, wait, wait, did I submit a report previously?”
She considered this, and her pupils abruptly contracted.
Recalling the contents of the report she had submitted to the Demon King Castle…
“The Church of Light is merely feigning an attack!”
It truly was her!
Lolth’s heart missed a beat.
“This constitutes a serious problem!”
Standing on the lookout tower, Lolth began to lament.
In her unrestrained emotional state, she could no longer maintain her calculation of the Supreme Divine Spell, and the power of Holy Light instantly dissipated.
The remaining miniature version of the Eden Falls divine spell and the solidified Holy Light power suddenly erupted.
Just above Hillenbrand Town, the Light Artifact that was in flight also halted mid-air.
