The Last Cat in the Universe

Chapter 3

Ji Xiuyun did not understand what the small, harmless animal in his hand was thinking. He had regained most of his strength and was finally able to stand up.

He remembered that the snow-white animal loved to be clean, so he carefully placed the small, dumb creature in his hand on the only clean spot on the bed.

Let's call it a bed.

Ji Xiuyun glanced at the bloodstains on the bed without changing his expression. He suspected that there were pieces of his internal organs and muscle tissue left on the bed. He turned around and walked to the side of the oval-shaped egg that had not been opened. He raised his hand and touched one of the areas.

Yue An's ears trembled. He recovered from the shock of being fooled by a human. He saw that the white protective shell was slowly closing. He quickly got up and jumped off the bed.

He found a place that was not so dirty and stood there. He watched as the white eggshell began to expand and change shape. With a slight mechanical sound, it turned into a house within a few seconds. To be precise, it was a room.

Yue An was surprised. He ran around the house that suddenly stood up in the middle of the scorched earth. He stretched out his soft, pink paws and patted the wall. He found that the wall was not very thick.

However, no matter how he looked at it, it had surpassed the technology on Earth by at least a few decades. Yue An walked around the corner and stopped at what looked like a door.

The technology on Earth had advanced to such a level!

Yue An thought of the cats in his clan that did not like to look for their owners. Instead, they turned into human forms and were addicted to playing games. He felt that if he could go back and look for them, he would definitely be able to get a lot of new and interesting games.

After a few decades, Yue An missed the cats in his clan. They would occasionally gather together and complain about their owners and the various desires of humans.

Since the new poop-picker was able to come here, although it seemed that he was in trouble, it did not matter. If he could come here, he would definitely find a way to go back.

Humans were always surprisingly smart.

It would be good to go back and say hello to his clan and tell them that he was safe.

Yue An thought and wagged the tip of his tail happily.

After Ji Xiuyun activated the safe mode, he entered the house and saw that the white ball, which was supposed to be on the bed, was gone.

The Marshal's footsteps paused slightly as he furrowed his brows.

But in the end, he didn't do anything unnecessary. Instead, he took out his clothes from the small cabinet in the room and changed into them. He then took out a small bottle and pulled out a transparent patch that was about the size of a pinky nail. He sprayed the liquid in the bottle onto the patch and soaked it. He then placed it under his nose and took a deep breath.

This was a small tool that all the residents of the Galactic Alliance would use. It was a portable oxygen patch that was soft, colorless, breathable, and close to the skin. After being sprayed with a special liquid oxygen, it would not look strange at all when placed under the nose. One patch could last for three hours in an oxygen-free environment.

Clearly, this planet was not a habitable planet for humans.

The oxygen content was low, the air was dry, and the gravity was higher than that of a normal habitable planet. The walk just now felt like training in a basic gravity room.

Ji Xiuyun's physical fitness was excellent. Previously, he had adjusted his breathing and persevered until his body recovered. Now, he had to take in oxygen to replenish his energy.

The marshal's movements were very orderly and he looked very calm.

He sat on the ground and reached out to pat the wall beside him. He quickly entered a string of numbers into the phantom numbers that appeared on the wall. An image was projected in midair in front of him.

It was the image that was recorded by the security system after Ji Xiuyun chose to enter the safety cabin.

The purpose of recording the image was to record faces and evidence to prevent the enemy from opening the cabin door without permission after escaping or being captured, causing casualties. At the same time, it could also be used as evidence for the user to successfully escape and return to the Galactic Tribunal.

Ji Xiuyun was ambushed during a routine inspection of the Galactic Alliance territory.

The Alliance's inspection was once every five years and lasted for a year each time. The current two Marshal of the Empire of Sintes were dispatched together, one in charge of the southeast and the other in charge of the northwest.

Ji Xiuyun was the one in charge of the southeast.

The people who ambushed him were a notorious group of space bandits from that galaxy. But when the Marshal saw the image of his spaceship and mech being blown up, there was no change in his expression.

— — He was ambushed when he was alone.

As the Marshal of the Empire, Ji Xiuyun was usually accompanied by guards. The times when he was alone were pitifully few.

And it was in these pitifully few times that he was ambushed.

It was obvious that there was a mole among the Marshal's guards.

However, Ji Xiuyun did not seem to care about the fact that there was a mole in his personal guards or that he had been ambushed by space bandits. Instead, after the safety cabin had quietly left the enemy's defensive range, he focused his attention on the situation.

He needed to confirm his coordinates.

As for the mole, the Marshal did not take it to heart because he believed that his confidants would quickly find the mole.

He was extremely lucky. The safety cabin was not thrown too far away by the gravitational and repulsive forces in the universe. The planet he landed on was at the edge of the Galactic Alliance territory. Through the few iconic planets recorded on the image, the Marshal roughly determined his coordinates.

After he finished watching the image, he sat on the ground and quietly breathed in oxygen for a while. He waited until his racing heartbeat gradually stabilized before he stood up.

Ji Xiuyun nimbly lifted up the blood-soaked mattress and tore open the fabric of the mattress. From the mattress, which reeked of blood, he took out a blood-stained, transparent, hard card that was half the size of a palm.

The Marshal paused slightly because of the bloodstains on it.

Although this invisible chip was not afraid of water entering it, after the bloodstains solidified, there would be uneven marks on it.

If he wanted to use it, he would have to clean it first.

Ji Xiuyun recalled the backup freshwater resources in the safety cabin and felt that he probably needed to go out and search for freshwater resources.

He pulled out a bottle of liquid from a small bag hanging on the wall. Hugging the abandoned mattress and tattered clothes, he turned around and walked to the door.

The Yue An raised its paw and was about to knock on the door. Before its paw could land, the door in front of it opened.

It raised its head and looked at the human who was hugging the thin mattress and dirty clothes as if he was about to throw them out. It meowed softly.

The Marshal, who thought that the little guy had run away, stopped in his tracks.

"Meow," the Yue An meowed again.

It looked at the human who was wearing a short-sleeved shirt. Through the shirt, it could clearly see the human's muscular lines. It felt that the human's neat clothes were much more pleasing to the eye.

It walked past the Marshal's long legs in black trousers. It did not have any intention of treating itself as an outsider at all. It swaggered directly into this high-tech product.

Who would have the heart to reject a cute kitten?

At least, the Marshal did not reject it.

It was not that Ji Xiuyun did not have his guard up. It was just that this little creature, which was visible to the naked eye, purposely hid its sharp fangs and claws when it came close to him, leaving only a soft, fleshy pad.

Intelligent species were also considered animals. Most of the time, humans had the most instinctive judgment towards kindness and malice from the outside world. However, their intelligent thinking would prevent them from acting according to their instincts. It would cause them to restrain their desires and restrict themselves with morals.

The Marshal, who had been fighting outside for a long time, had developed his instincts much more deeply than ordinary people.

When interacting with animals that were simple and had a clear distinction between good and evil, it was enough to follow their instincts.

This little guy was quite friendly. It might have even saved his life.

Ji Xiuyun looked at the small animals that were wandering around the safety cabin curiously. He occasionally patted and touched the small animals here and there. He threw the mattress and tattered military uniform he was hugging outside the door. He opened the lid of the liquid in his hand and poured the entire cup of liquid over it.

The Yue An, who was sitting in the room, heard the noise and turned to look at the door.

The blood-stained mattress and clothes outside the door gradually evaporated into steam under his gaze and disappeared completely.

Another high-tech product!

The Yue An's cat eyes widened as it watched Ji Xiuyun return to the room. He closed the lid on the jar in his hand and stuffed it back into the small bag on the wall.

Then, he pulled open a cabinet. There were more than ten rows of test tubes containing a light blue liquid neatly arranged in the cabinet. Ji Xiuyun took out a test tube from the cabinet, opened the lid, and drank a mouthful.

Curiosity and gluttony were instincts of cats, especially when it saw a human eating in front of it.

The Yue An could not help but walk to the human's side. It straightened its body and placed its two front paws on the human's calf. It stretched its neck and meowed to attract the Marshal's attention.

Ji Xiuyun lowered his head and looked at the little guy who was leaning on him. He followed its gaze and saw the nutrient solution in his hand.

"You want to eat it?"

"Meow."

The Marshal took the high-pitched meow as an answer.

But to be honest, the nutrient solution did not taste good.

He dabbed a little on his finger and placed it in front of the Yue An.

Stingy.

The Yue An thought, but it still stretched its head out to smell it. A light fruity fragrance lingered at the tip of its nose.

The kitten stretched out its pink and tender tongue and carefully licked the drop of nutrient solution on the human's hand. The next second, it jumped far away with a look of disgust on its face.

The Marshal looked at the little guy who was obviously the one who wanted to eat it, but was now disgusted. He did not know why, but he explained, "We don't usually eat this."

The Yue An looked up at him and meowed.

He did not know if it believed him or not.

Ji Xiuyun, who was at Cat Language Level 0, looked at the unpleasant liquid in his hand and drank the rest of the nutrient solution in one gulp.

The space in the safety cabin was very precious. It was impossible to have fresh food. Although the nutrient solution took up some space, it contained enough calories and nutrients for the human body. One tube was enough to support an adult for two days. If the amount of exercise was not heavy, it could also support an adult for four days.

Before going out to find a water source, Ji Xiuyun needed to replenish the energy in the safety cabin.

The Yue An squatted at the side and watched Ji Xiuyun walk to the side of a wall. His two palms pressed against the wall, and another light swept over his body. Then, a crack appeared on the wall, and a cabinet similar to the one in which the nutrient solution was placed was pushed out. It was neatly stacked on top of the cabinet, but it was not the nutrient solution.

The Yue An suddenly pricked up its ears. Its blue eyes stared at a crystal-like light purple ore that Ji Xiuyun had picked up. It kicked off with its hind legs and pounced on the ore in Ji Xiuyun's hand!

Ji Xiuyun's eyes sharpened. After he noticed the Yue An's target, he pushed the cabinet door open and quickly closed it. He withdrew his hand, turned around and retreated to a corner to avoid the little creature that suddenly attacked him.

The Yue An missed its target. When it saw the cabinet being retracted, it reached out with its paws and slammed it a few times, but it did not open. It was so anxious that it meowed. It kept jumping to Ji Xiuyun's side and circled around him.

It was definitely not mistaken. Wasn't the thing in Ji Xiuyun's hand? Wasn't that the spirit stone that the elders in the clan had been worshipping for over a hundred years? They were willing to accept the weakening of their magic power until they could no longer transform into a human, but they were unwilling to take a bite out of it!

This person actually had a cabinet full of them!

A whole cabinet full of them!

After eating this cabinet full of spirit stones, he would be able to transform into a human and go out adventuring like those elders who had been accumulating spirit energy for hundreds or thousands of years!

He might even be able to go out adventuring for a year or two!

The Yue An suddenly realized that it seemed to be hugging an extremely thick golden thigh.

Ji Xiuyun sensed the creature's attention on the energy crystal in his hand. He shook the stone in his hand.

"You want it?"

The Marshal's voice was always cold, like ice that would not melt for ten thousand years. His expression was also very cold, and even his gaze was cold.

Ji Xiuyun had been fighting on the battlefield since he was young. His military rank of Marshal was forcefully obtained through his military exploits. Even if he tried his best to be gentle, he still appeared cold and hard.

His murderous aura and bloodthirsty aura could not be concealed. Although the Marshal Ji was the dream lover of billions of young girls, at the same time, he was also a demon that children would not get close to. Even animals would avoid him from three kilometers away.

The fact that this furry little creature was willing to get close to him was already beyond Ji Xiuyun's expectations.

The Yue An stared unblinkingly at the crystal in Ji Xiuyun's hand. When it heard his question, it hurriedly replied, "Meow!"

Ji Xiuyun lowered his eyes to look at it. He seemed to be thinking about something and did not say anything.

The Yue An looked at Ji Xiuyun's cold expression and was so angry that it wanted to scratch him with its claws.

I crippled one of my tails to save you!

You won't even give me a single spirit stone!

You have an entire cabinet of spirit stones!

But you won't even give me a single one!

The Yue An was about to die from anger.

He stared anxiously at the spirit stone, then turned his head to look at the wall of the cabinet that had been retracted. He was weighing the pros and cons of obtaining a cabinet of spirit stones now and the possibility of obtaining even more spirit stones in the future.

This new owner looked very rich and did not seem to be lacking in spirit stones at all.

If he left this place with him, wouldn't he be able to obtain a lot of spirit stones to eat?

If he ate more spirit stones, he would be able to become like those legendary monsters. With a wave of his claws, he would be able to change the weather and move mountains and seas with a snap of his fingers.

Just thinking about it made him feel very cool!

The Yue An was overwhelmed with emotions. When he looked up at the spirit stone, his gaze became even more fervent.

Ji Xiuyun deliberated for a long time before saying, "Use your innate gift to produce water again."

You won't even give me a single spirit stone!

You want me to use magic!

Do you think spirit stones are free?!

The Yue An glared at Ji Xiuyun. He wanted to turn around and point his butt at him in protest.

Ji Xiuyun vaguely understood what he was trying to say. He added, "If you use it, you can have this energy crystal."

Before he finished speaking, the Yue An swiftly waved his claws and condensed a few small streams of water in the extremely dry air.

Ji Xiuyun observed for a moment and found that the streams of water were much more detailed than before.

He first used the streams of water to clean up the blood stains on the invisible chip. Then, he lowered his head and looked at the Yue An, who was anxiously scratching his trousers.

He said, "You can understand my words."

The Yue An became anxious. "Meow!"

"You saved me," Ji Xiuyun said again.

"Meow!" Yes, yes, yes!

You're a big man, why are you even more dawdling than a little girl!

The Yue An stared at the spirit stone. He was so anxious that he wanted to bite someone.

Ji Xiuyun looked at this little cutie for a while. Then, he bent over and placed the energy crystal at his feet.

"Thank you for saving me," the Marshal said and introduced himself. "I'm Ji Xiuyun. What about you?"

The white cat, who was hurriedly hugging the spirit stone, was slightly stunned when he heard this. He raised his head and looked at Ji Xiuyun, who still had a cold expression on his face.

He hesitated for a long time. Then, he hugged the spirit stone tightly. Finally, he responded.

"Meow."

My name is Yue An.

"I don't understand what you're saying," the Marshal said. He thought for a moment. "I'll call you Little White for now."

The Yue An, "…"

The Yue An, "???"

The Yue An was in disbelief.

Then why did you ask for a shovel?!
